After classes were over, I walked to my locker and overheard two of the wicked witch's henchmen talking. I nearly growled at their fake nails and fake personalities. Phonies.
"Did you hear about Mariana and Thomas? I feel bad for him. His replacement though, is mighty sexy. Brady and his six pack...mmmm. That bitch is soo lucky she got him." The girls giggled at the thought of being able to touch Brady's body. I was repulsed by the idea, but continued listening.
"Anyways," said the same girl, "during last night's party she got him to confess the truth to her. Well I wouldn't call it 'confessing' cuz she just got him real drunk. Either way she found out he liked Skyla." The other girl gasped and whispered to her friend.
"You mean the nerd and turd Skyla?" Her friend nodded.
"Oh wow! And to think I wanted to date that hottie, but if he's interested in ugly people, whatever." The pathetic girls walked away giggling some more. I slowly walked away. I then jogged out of the school. I was left speechless after hearing the news about what happened.
Me? Why does...he like...me?
I couldn't let Gerald find out. I had to keep this a secret. I just had to.

"So, what happened with Thomas?" I sat down next to Gerald on the bench, and leaned against his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around me.
"Oh nothing. I think he was going to say something, but he passed out. I had to call Mariana and it seems that they aren't dating anymore." I turned to look at Gerald who stared at me. he saw that I had hesitated to say more, but he let it go.
"Wow, and to think they we're the star couple. Now they're not. Why do you think they broke up?" I tried to avoid his eyes and said, "I don't know." He looked at me and I decided to change the subject, "Are you going to the party tonight?"
That seemed to do the trick. He thought about it.
"I guess I will go," He leaned over and kissed me, "If you come with." I giggled and the unsettling mood from before, disappeared. I grabbed his hand and interlaced our fingers.
"Well, you better get ready then. I'm going." With that, we walked down the sidewalk and went our desperate ways.

I finished getting ready. I wore a simple icy blue, knee length dress. I had decided not to do anything to my hair, so I just let it roll across my shoulders in little waves.
I walked outside and met up with Gerald. He gave me a ride in his red convertible. Although he bragged about it so much, I really preferred to have a black stingray corvette.
When we arrived at the party, I reminded Gerald not to drink and let him go to his friends. I met up with couple of my 'friends'. In the adult life, it became clear that friends didn't exist. It was either you have a boyfriend/girlfriend, or you have enemies. That's it.
We went over to an unoccupied table and chatted a bit. I decided it was okay to tell them what I had heard. I was in the middle of explaining what happened when people (mostly girls) started gasping. Other people (mostly boys) started to shout and kept cheering.
We walked over to the crowd, thinking that a good fight was about to go down, when I realized it was Thomas and Gerald fighting.
Gerald was holding a pocket knife. He was swearing a lot and it looked like he was ready to fall down. Thomas, on the other hand, looked much worse. He only had a broken bottle in one hand, while the other clutched at his chest.
I looked around at the crowd that had gathered and I spotted Mariana. She was cowering in fear under a table. She had a split lip and her hand was bleeding.
I quickly looked away because another second and I might've gone over to beat the crap out of her. I was sure that she was somehow connected to all this. I just didn't have proof.
I heard a couple more shouts as Thomas punched Gerald. I noticed a couple people recording the fight and placing bets. It was enough to push me over the edge.
"Stop!" I ran through the people blocking me. Gerald turned to look at me. While he was distracted, Thomas punched him again. Gerald growled and tackled Thomas down.
I was seething with rage. I walked over and grabbed the knife away from Gerald. I then tugged him by his ear and sat him down on a chair nearby. He struggled against my hold, but I slapped him. He was shocked.
"What are you doing Gerald!!" He didn't seem to mind me yelling at him. He just yelled back.
"God can't you see I was defending you!? Mariana was talking shit about you and when I started punching her, 'Romeo' here, came in to defend her." I stared at Thomas, who was bleeding from a gash across his chest, then to Mariana, who had her head hung in shame. I knew she had something to do with this. Stupid bitch. I squeezed my eyes shut and pinched the bridge of my nose. I tried my best not to spit my words out.
"Gerald. That still doesn't give you reason enough to fight. Thomas is hurt and all because you couldn't let your pride be insulted at. Now, I'm going to help him whether you like it or not." I walked toward Thomas and helped him sit on a chair nearby. The crowd had dissipated and Gerald had been looking at me as if I were crazy. I ignored the him and concentrated on the problem at hand.
It was times like this when I wished I had a car.
"Mariana, do you think you could give me a ride home?" I turned to look at Mariana. She crept close.
"Aren't you mad at me?" I shake my head and turn away. She sighs in relief and agrees to help me. Why did I have to be stuck with her?!
