Gianna in the media.

"Gianna Harrington" I looked up as I heard my name and walked down the aisle to receive my high school diploma.

Finally after 4 years I could officially say I was done with school no more getting up early and seeing people I didn't want to be around.

I sighed as I grabbed my diploma and gave a fake smile for the picture.

After going through dozens of names being called we finally exited the stadium and walked out to meet our families.

"Gianna! I'm so proud of you baby girl" my mom said as she pulled me into a big suffocating hug.

"Thanks mom" I said under my breath while fixing my hat.

"I'm so proud of you. you graduated with honors just like your mother and I" my dad said grabbing me by my shoulders and hugging me.

"Let's go sweetheart your grandmother's waiting for you. she has a big surprise for you back at the house" she smiled and put one hand over my shoulder.

"Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse" I thought as I put on my seat belt.

We arrived home and I saw a lot of cars in the drive way. I rolled my eyes and got out the car.

"Mom did grandma really have to do all this? A simple dinner would've been fine" I pouted.

"Honey this is a big deal, your grandmother is very proud of you, your the third generation in this family to graduate" she said walking with me towards the entrance.

"But mom" I pouted one last time before she opened the door.

"SURPRISE!!!!" A whole crowd of people greeted me with balloons and streamers.

I gave them a half smile as I looked around.

"Congratulations sweetie" my grandmother said coming towards me and hugging me.

"Thanks grandma but you didn't have to do all this" I looked around at all the decorations that had my name imprinted on them.

"Oh baby now don't be silly I'm very proud to have another winner in this family, you will go on and do great things just like me, your aunts, uncles, your father, and your mother"

"Great not only did I have the pressure from my parents but now I have the whole family's too"

I walked further into the house and greeted everyone before I went upstairs to change.

I walked up stairs and locked my bedroom door. I sighed deeply and walked inside my walk-in closet.

I picked out my clothes, got dressed and sat on the end of my bed contemplating how and when I was going to tell my parents that I wanted to take a year off school and just travel. I didn't wanna rush into school. at least not right now.

"Gia" I heard my older sister's voice outside my door.

I got up and opened it, "hey Jen"

"Are you okay?"

My older sister Jenesis was not a fool she knew something was wrong, and I couldn't lie to her even if I wanted to.

"No" I looked down.

"Come tell me" she reached out for my hand and sat me on the bed.

"I... I don't want to rush right into school" I looked over at her, "I want to travel for a while and then make a decision"

"Okay. Mom and dad aren't going to like this but if it's what you want to do then do it"

"But I don't want to let them down"

"If you don't choose what's best for you you're letting yourself down, you have to he happy with yourself first"

"I guess, I just need sometime to think about it"

She nodded, "let's go before mom freaks out" she smiled.

We walked down the stairs and my mom immediately grabbed my hand shoving me around to say hello to other guests.

2:56 am.

I was still up thinking about what Jen said. I really wanted to study Film and not go to school to be some lawyer or doctor. I wanted to travel not be stuck in a office all day breathing the stale air.

I sighed as I grabbed my MacBook from the floor. I opened it and started to surf the web.

"Travel and gain experience by volunteering to help others" I read the big bold print on a ad.

"This could be interesting" I thought clicking on the ad and filling out the application. Hopefully this could be something I was interested in. You know those kids who aren't sure what they wanna do after high school? Well I'm one of them. My parents have dreams for me but those dreams aren't what I want to do.

I looked out of my window and closed my MacBook snuggling my covers and closing my eyes.
