1 week later.
"Okay Ms. Skye these are your discharge papers" The nurse in light blue scrubs said handing me a stack of papers. She was cool she looked like she was my age. "make sure you also clean the wounds twice a day. it'll help them heal better and faster." She said handing me some gauze pads, "also no strong movements for a month" she commanded.
My thoughts consumed me after she said no strong movements. How the hell was I supposed to pay HC the quota for not harming my family?
"Hello?" The nurse waved her small hand in my face. "oh yea I understand" I shook my head a little bit. "Is someone coming to get you?" She looked around as she walked me outside the hospital. I squinted my eyes and nodded, "I'll call someone to come get me don't worry" I said looking in my sweater pocket. "fuck" I cussed under my breath. I didn't have my phone on me. It was probably lost again. "here use my phone" the nurse said handing me her big iphone 6 plus. I looked up at her, "thanks" and dialed Trinity's number. It rang and rang but no one answered.
"Uhm I'll walk or take a bus home" I told the nurse who was still there behind me with her arms crossed and an understanding face expression. "you sure? Your wounds are still healing I don't want you to make it worse"
I shook my head, "no it's okay" I said convincing not only her but me as well. How the hell was I supposed to get home with two white bandages wrapped around my stomach, a black eye, and bruises all over my face and arms. People were gonna look at me strange for sure.
"Okay well here this is my personal number if you need anything or if nobody comes you can call me, my name's Layla" she smiled. "Thanks" I said grabbing the small business card and sitting down on the bench.
I sighed. "I know Trinity knew I was out today maybe she forgot but still she coulda sent herb to come get me." I thought as I began my journey up the street.
I walked for a good while until I came across an alley that was in front of a McDonald's. I was out of breath from walking so I leaned against a wall and tried to catch my breath. As I breathed in and breathed out I looked around the alley and I started to get flashbacks. Flashbacks of that night.
That big beard dude with the gold chains that tried to abuse of me. I remember him beating me till my ribs hurt and I couldn't see anything outta my left eye. I remember running to get help and falling as soon as I got to the stage door. Then I remember that blonde girl telling someone to get me outta there and also telling them that I didn't belong there.
I my head was spinning. I felt myself sweating and shivering all at the same time. My vision wasn't clear, it started to get blurry. I felt my legs get weaker so I sat down slowly breathing out the pain that the wounds caused me. I closed my eyes, brought my legs up to my body and wrapped my arms around them. I tried to rock back and forth to keep me from completely losing focus.
I was in and out of consciousness when I heard someone call out my name. I blinked my eyes but with each blink my eyes got worse.
"Skye" They said as they kneeled down in front of me, "your burning up!" He said as he touched my face. "Brandon?" I questioned recognizing his deep voice. "Yea it's me ima take you back home okay" He said picking me up and walking over to a car. He laid me on the front seat and put my seat belt on. I felt him a few seconds later put his seat belt on and start up the car.
We drove for a while until we stopped at a big house. I looked out the window, "this must me the rich side of town" I thought to myself. He got out the car and opened the passenger door picking me back up. I looked at him and rested my head on the crook of his neck. I felt him breath heavily as he walked up to the front door.
I felt him push the door with his foot and walked through a hallway that seemed to be filled with picture frames of different people. Maybe they were famous, maybe they were just his family and friends. He walked up stairs and turned to the first door on the right.
I lifted my head up to take in the view. It seemed all white and clean. Fluffy white carpet on the side of the King size bed. Huge window out looking the skyline of Chicago, a big flat screen right in front of the bed. In front of the huge window sat a creamy white couch with fluffy white pillows. Right across from it was what I imagined was the walk-in closet.
Just looking at this place reminded me so much of back home.
I felt him place me softly onto the bed, "I'll be back I'm gonna get you some water for your medicine." He said running out the room and down stairs. I nodded laying my head on the pillow. In a matter of seconds he was back up with a glass of water in his hand. "here" he said handing me two antibiotics and a Motrin pill for the pain. I took it in my hand and put it in my mouth quickly grabbing the water and swallowing it.
Lord knows how much I hate swallowing pills.
I gave him the glass of water and got more comfortable on the bed. I turned to my side and closed my eyes. "I'll be here if you need me" I heard Brandon whisper. I nodded and dozed off immediately forgetting anything and everything.
