Sonic POV
I stood in front of the door, hesitant, what if this is a mistake. I don't want to make things worse. If I don't tell him, I might not be able to fix any of this mess...
I raised my hand to the door but I couldn't knock. I lowered my hand and let out a small sigh, who am I kidding, he probably won't even want to come to the door. Maybe I should try his window? Wait, would that be worse?
Before I could decide, the doorknob began to turn, I rushed behind the nearest hiding spot I could find and carefully watched. Shadow looked like he hadn't slept in days, this wasn't out of the norm for him but, he just looked so miserable. Maybe I can do something for him without him knowing it was me?
I kept out of sight as I followed him, his route seemed irregular but knowing Shadow, he must have been taking the scenic route, to wherever he was going. Once we got to station square park, it got harder to find a hiding spot. So I stayed behind a rose bush as he went to a nearby seating area. He looked like he was waiting for someone to show up.
I was expecting Rouge to show up, but she never did. Hours had gone by and no one showed up. Maybe this is my que?
Alright. It's now or never.
Still careful to not be seen right away, I approached him. The closer I got the more I could feel my hands getting cold and a pounding inside my ribcage. I sat down next to him, not sure what to say. He didn't seem all too happy to see me but he also didn't leave right away. Was this progress? Should I say something? I should say something.
"Good to see you." I said quietly.
"..." Shadow didn't respond. He had a photo in his hand. Did he come here to ruminate?
"How long has it been since we've had a race?" I asked. He looked at me with mild disgust.
"I'm not in the mood to wipe the floor with your face." He scowled.
"Right... Look, about the other day-"
"Enough."
"So... What brings you out here Shadow?"
"Do you ever stop talking?"
"Oh come on, it's not gonna kill you to conversate a little."
He responded with a sigh, before slouching onto the bench. It doesn't seem like he wants to leave yet, this is great! Now I just need to figure out how to tell him without bringing it up too obviously. But how?
I couldn't come up with anything on the spot, so I just sat there with him, commenting about random things. He didn't seem to opposed to it. Maybe he even enjoyed the small talk.
Metal Sonic POV
Watching them seems to bring an interesting feeling of enmity. I don't understand why, my programming was updated, was it not? So why do I still feel the need to eliminate Sonic? Perhaps it's still in the core programming, he is an enemy after all.
There wasn't any useful information swapped between the two. It seemed to all just be pointless discussion.
Then something interesting happened.
Sonic had reached over to grab project Shadow's hand, who didn't reject him but he seemed so dejected from this interaction. A simple thought crossed my mind, but was soon after questioned. Why did that cross my mind? Perhaps this new programming was interacting badly with the recent patch that was used to fix the glitches in my programming.
Project Shadow seemed to have enough of this interaction and left without a word. Sonic tried to follow but was pushed away. What an odd interaction.
I am supposed to keep an eye on Sonic today, but curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to follow Project Shadow instead.
