The beginning

Everything is a blur, rainy, wet, dark, cold...But all I see are those bright green forest-like eyes looking back at me in denial.

Then it hits me, "I'm dying..."

5 months earlier

"Naya, come on. We can come another time." I say as Dad tries to pull me along away from the Ice-cream man. "No, mama I want ice cream!" I cry louder. "Naya-" Her words were cut off by a loud bang going off, and her body jerked. "NOOO," Dad yells letting go of my hand to catch my mom before she hits the ground.

"No, no, no. Baby hey Nour baby come on look at me hey. HEY." he says shaking her. People are screaming as they run past us, but I don't move too shocked because of what I just witnessed. When someone bumps into me causing me to stumble back a little, but also snapping me out of my daze. "M-mama," I say, taking slow steps toward my parents.

She looks up at me a tear rolling down her left cheek. As I get closer to them I kneel, my trembling hands reaching reach hold her pale ones. She looks up at my father, and for a while, they just stare at each other. Her right-hand reaches up to touch his cheek. Before it reaches his face my dad's hand catches hers as he holds both of their hands to his face as he cries, "L-Luka it's okay..." She takes in a long breath, "I-I don't feel anything, it- it doesn't hurt i-I'm fine..." he cries harder as his head falls to her chest and her arm goes around his neck just holding him. "D-Dont do this to me, Nour...Don't leave me."

Her hand squeezes mine, as she pulls me into the hug and I cry too young to know what's going on. "I-I love you..." She whispers in his ear, and all he does is shake his head, "Don't say that... Don't do this to me." before she gets to say anything there is another bang causing me to scream. My dad's head jerks up at the same time his hand grabs me putting me under him. "Fuck!" he says, "b-baba l-language," I say crying into his chest, he kisses my head and pulls out his phone typing away something to someone.

My mom tugs at his shirt, and his red eyes go to her right away, "L-Luka, g-get h-her out o-of h-here" she stutters, he stares at her for a while, then his eyes meet mine, also red and puffy. A tear rolls down his cheek, he bends down his face kissing her on her forehead, eyes, nose, and lastly lips. My mom's hands go to his cheek holding and creasing it. He rests his forehead on hers, "I love you." he says, "And I love you my ruh(Soul)..."She starts to breathe hard and her eyes start to shut. "Naya..." her eyes come to me... "M-mama, w-what's g-going on?" I ask, "Naya, m-mama i-is going to sleep for a while...but know that mama is always with you okay... and never give up on your dreams okay. Promise me." I tangle her pinky with the mind, "Wallah, I-I will." She looks at my dad again and smiles. "Goodbye, my love..."

She looks up at the sky and smiles and starts saying something but I never catch it, but finally her eyes close and my dad screams scaring me. He pulls me in and my mom hugs us and kisses my mom multiple times. I bring my lips to her forehead and his her, "Goodnight mama." My dad looks at me smiling. He makes me stand, as he sets Mom down kissing her one more time before getting up and picking me up with him and starting running.

All of sudden he comes to a stop. I lift my head looking at him, "Baba why did you stop?" he doesn't look at me and just stares ahead. As I go to turn my head he stops me, hugging me harder. He exhales then kisses me on my head long and hard, "Baby, when I put you down you're going to run and not look back, Uncle Jake will be out back okay..." I nod, "But baba what about you, a-aren't you going to come with me?." "Baba has something important to do and it's going to take a long" I nod one more time as he pulls away and looks at me, "I love you baba..." "And I love you my ruh." He sets me down kissing me on the head then whispers, "Run."
