[A/N: Okay, so this is a very special poem in Abstracted, considering it was written by an important family member, known on Wattpad as IndyScott. This is actually a remake of the poem I mentioned in the author's note in All Wrong. IndyScott does not typically write poetry, but I think that it is absolutely awesomesauce.]
The heart is an emotionless organ
Meant to pump blood and keep us alive.
To think that love exists in flesh;
There must be more than that to survive.
Many people want to find it,
Fearing the emotion may be missed.
Only the foolish go through struggles
To prove that love exists.
If affection is the substance
That is being pumped through our veins,
Our capacity to live
Should be smaller than a grain.
They say its the greatest mystery
That sets itself apart.
But the one thing people want
Cannot be found in the heart.
To love is an illusion
Caused by chemicals in the brain.
To seek that one special feeling
Will lead to nothing but loss and pain.
I say love is a distraction,
To keep us from winning the game of life;
But maybe I wouldn't feel this way
If I were still his wife.
