"Look here! That's it... Beautiful! Alright, smile! Say Cheese! One more, one more!"
"Ken!"
Barbie huffed and shook her head at his antics, yet still terribly amused, unable to avoid the loving giggle that escaped her throat. He was on his knees, on his back, holding the phone upside down, backwards, zoomed in, full body... All of it. She covered her mouth to hide her smirk when he struck out butt during his own adorable amateur photographer poses.
The blonde male did not put down his phone; instead, he chuckled and continued to photograph the momentous event for his lovely girlfriend, who simply stood by awkwardly smiling to the point where her cheeks hurt.
"Aaaaaallmooooooost theeeeerrrre! Ooops, you had your eyes closed... One more!"
"I think we have enough", she snarked back, smirking and crossing her arms.
He laughed and stood up straighter, "What? Can't help it, babe. It's your first day of teaching, we have to document this. Besides, you're beautiful... The camera loves you! And so do I", he walked over, scooped her up, and kissed her lips, causing a blush to rise up her cheeks as she deepened it.
"Ugh, you two are gross, ya know that?"
Barbie and Ken halted their show of affection and glared half-heartedly over towards the brunette who was perched on the stoop to the duplex, her nose buried in her own device. The girl rolled her eyes and chuckled anyway. She exhaled heavily, decidedly, and playfully smacked at her boyfriend's chest.
"Alright, you dork, I really do have to get going"
"Oh, don't forget your lunch!", Ken reminded her, racing inside to grab at her lunch box. Again, Barbie laughed at his sweetness. He was really doing his best to be the most doting boyfriend on the planet, nearly acting like an involved parent ready to send off their child for the first day of school.
Because that's exactly what Barbie was doing.
It was her first day of Student Teaching.
In the final semester of an educational program, college students have to 'student teach' in which they basically go to school like a regular teacher and take over classes as if they were the main teacher in the room. They assume all responsibilities the regular classroom teacher would take on and gain real-world practice at leading a classroom. With music education, Barbie would have to experience the younger students as well as the older ones, providing her a full range of expertise in all ages, helping to guide them along in their goal towards musical enlightenment, encouraging them to be the best musicians they could be.
And today was Day One.
"Alright, sis, pop quiz! The principal is in the room watching you. You're in the middle of teaching Kindergarteners how to sing Mary Had a Little Lamb... A kid comes up to you and says he peed all over the floor... What do you do?", Skipper sat up straighter and readdressed her sister, smirking and daring her to answer.
Barbie chuckled and rolled her eyes towards the sky, "Skipper..."
"Hey! Don't say I didn't warn you! You know as well as I do kids are unpredictable! You gotta think on your feet, anticipate their every movement", she snuck glances around her vicinity as if a five-year-old would strike any moment, "be ready for everything they throw at you! Snotty noses, messy fingers, untied shoelaces!"
"Oh, don't I know it. Don't worry", she waved off the concern confidently, "I totally got this. Remember? I grew up with you! If I can handle you, I can handle a bunch of little kids", teasing back at her younger sister who simply rolled her eyes and huff indignantly. Barbie laughed at her offense.
