I hate this place.

I always have, and always will.

Well, that's what I thought when I stared up at the building that loomed before me, standing grand and tall before me, the stones darkened by the damp weather.

It was always dark and wet on the first day of school, and it was an atmosphere that suited this dreadful place perfectly.

Sure, the great Moonlight Academy may have a great reputation and all, but you know that any school up there in the ranks are the shittiest places there is. And don't get me started on the people. God.

I passed through the gates and into the courtyard, just as everyone else did, white blazers flashing everywhere you looked as the students carried on in trying to find their friends and acquaintances from the previous years. Me on the other hand, I just kept my eyes on the book I was reading, trying not to draw attention to myself. But that hardly ever worked, and this time was no different. I could almost feel the glares that were being shot at me.

Oh right, did I mention that everyone in this school abjectly hates me?

Some people naturally strayed away from me, it was like an instinctive force in a way, but some just stood there and whispered to one another. You'd get kinda used to that after a few years, but it still, it sometimes bugged the hell out of me. The whispering I mean. I appreciated the personal space.

Anyways, it was quite early - I didn't know why the hell I showed up an hour before class - so I decided to head to the library, sliding my headphones up my neck and over my ears as I walked. Getting to the library was a breeze, since most of the people who did decide to show up early were outside, meeting their friends and all. There were also first-timers who would often show up before peak time, all anxious to find their classes. I mean, it was understandable - There once was a student who had gotten lost in the school building, and wasn't found until after a week - lord knows how he survived that long - the point is, this place is so big and confusing that just finding the way outside is a decent pain in the ass.

I finally made it to the library, which probably had the biggest set of doors ever to exist, so it stood out quite well in the dark hallway, the walls lined with huge framed pictures of anything and everything. I sighed, pushing past the huge doors and closing them behind me, entering a dimly lit temple of books. The place had a completely different atmosphere from the rest of the school, almost alienated in a sort of ethereal way. I couldn't help but smile in relief at the sight of the forest of ink and paper everywhere you looked as shelves upon shelves dressed the walls of every floor, and the huge windows that lined the roof and walls once in a while let in a creeping glint of sunlight, touching the plants that were delicately hung all over the library, the vines glistening as the water droplets reflected the light.
