That day, I had to stay behind to finish this project I had. It was due in a week or so, but I really couldn't be bothered with doing it over the span of the next week. It was already evening by the time I reached the dorms, and that was when I realized that I just missed a bunch of texts from Artemis, telling me to finish up and get back to our room as fast as possible.
I rushed up the stairs, taking two steps at a time, trying to contain the nagging feeling of worry that made my stomach twist and turn. What if something happened while I was gone? I couldn't even get a clue on why he wanted me to get back quickly, all the texts barely gave out any hints. I could only hope that he was okay.
I finally got to our room and shoved the door open, though what I saw was probably the last thing I was expecting to see. They were all there, Artemis, Jasper, Bella, Pearl, and the twins' older brother who'd roomed with Jasper, Hawthorn. I quickly spotted the bottles and cans that were sprawled in the middle of the room. It seemed as if they planned their little affair to be in our room.
"Oh hell naw."
I immediately shut the door and began to walk back the way I came. There was no way I was getting involved in that. Though, I kinda felt bad for leaving Artemis there. That wasn't quite a big problem though, because I could hear the door opening as I walked.
"Gray! Wait up!" Artemis' voice rang through the hallway. "Why'd you leave?"
"Why are they in our room?!" I hissed. "And aren't you too young to be drinking?!"
"Hmph. They won't let me have it." Artemis grumbled as he caught up with me. "They bought me apple juice instead."
"Looks like they do have some brains in there." I rolled my eyes.
"Come on!! It's fun to just chill out and talk with them!" He insisted.
"I'd rather not." I shook my head.
"But where else are you gonna go?"
I stopped in my tracks. He did have a point. It was too late to wait out in some cafe, and the school would've been closed by now.
"Fine." I sighed. "But I'm not joining any of you, I'll head straight to sleep."
"Fair enough. You'll sleep through a bombing if nobody wakes you up." Artemis stated, rolling his eyes at me.
"Yeah yeah." I began walking back, followed closely by Artemis. I opened the door and walked into the room, only to find the one and only Jasper sitting on top of my bed. Pearl was at my desk, writing something in a journal, and Bella was having a conversation with her brother. The black haired boy looked as if he was about to fall asleep right onto that floor.
