Hot Dead Girl

Wednesday watched distastefully from the neighboring Womack house. In fact, she could literally hear Judge Womack pushing his nosey face against the door of the room she was situated in just to listen to her. Ignoring this, Wednesday continued to follow the colorful girl roaming her room in the Addams mansion with her binoculars.

Truly, if this girl couldn't even find such an obvious clue, Wednesday was going to give up on her plan. She had no idea why death had chosen to play such a cruel prank upon her. This was supposed to find her mate of soul, mind, and body. Somebody who was of the same mindset as her so that neither of them would accidentally suffer an embarrassing death like dying of old age. How anticlimactic and embarrassing that would be. The great Wednesday Addams, dying of old age. She would just not have it.

Instead, death had sent her this girl who was scrambling to follow the clues Wednesday had left like a puppy hunting for the last bone in the world. The girl didn't even have an intention to die. It seemed to Wednesday that she was one of those people who disliked the thought of death, which was foolish in Wednesday's opinion.

Still, it took Wednesday by surprise when the graveyard lit itself up for the girl. It was peculiar, and made Wednesday wonder if the graveyard had never done so for her because it knew she preferred the dark.

Before Wednesday could catch herself, she felt proud of the girl as her face lit up with understanding, like a detestably bright lightbulb turning on. Slamming the feeling into the ground, Wednesday pulled herself away from the window and placed the binoculars down on the ground next to her bag of supplies. She would have to start planning her next move now that the girl had finally caught on to the clues she had been leaving.

Seriously, the doll had been in her possession the entire time, rigged to do exactly that. She could've literally put a piece of paper in the doll's hands and it would've done the exact same thing. Instead, the girl was probably reading into the fact that it was the bill that Wednesday had forgotten even existed. All the better for Wednesday's scheme, she supposed.

Pivoting on her heel and marching to the door, she flung the door open purposefully so that it knocked into Judge Womack's forehead so that he let out an undignified yelp. Completely ignoring his glare as he rubbed his face, she curtly announced, "I will be utilizing your stove now."

Stalking off, she heard the Judge murmuring curses behind her, but knew that he would not stop her, considering the threat she had made if he considered not cooperating.

"So that's why I need to know what 'two snaps' means", Enid concluded her harrowing story of the evening before as her friends huddled around her. The bell seemed to be taking a long time to ring on this day, even if Enid had talked really fast in her excitement.

"So your hot dead girl left you a mystical 20 dollars and you met what's basically your future in laws," Divina deadpanned.

"No she's not mine", Enid refuted, face heating up and then murmuring, "Even if she was pretty." A stray thought saying if only, wandered into Enid's mind. She quickly shook it off as something silly, a thought that didn't belong.

Ajax snickered having heard her murmur, being the one closest to her besides Yoko, who was glaring at her girlfriend for calling Wednesday Addams hot. Sure, Wednesday might be pale like Yoko, but they weren't that alike right?

Enid playfully reaches up and slaps Ajax on the back of his head. "Shush." They were like siblings by now, although the whole school had once shipped them together because of how close they were. Unfortunately (or fortunately), both of them were very much gay.

Then she turns around and unlocks her locker as Ajax cries out in a playful protest, "Hey!"

Nobody is ready for what happens next. Fog curls out of her locker, unfolding and uncurling into the hallway. As the wisps clear up a little it is evident it comes from the tiniest cauldron that had been placed at the bottom of the locker, bubbling with some greenish gray liquid.

"Damn, looks like hot dead girl is leaving you love letters", Kent, Divina's twin brother chuckles, trying to lighten the mood as Enid reaches for the black envelope taped to the small pink magnetic mirror she had placed on the inside of her locker door. The envelope was made of thick material, certainly nothing like the flimsy envelopes that her parents kept at home for mailing normal letters. In fact, the letter was extravagantly sealed with wax, the initials W.A. outlined in blood red.

Fumbling with it, Enid isn't quite sure what to do with it. The envelope was so fancy that Enid felt it was wrong to just tear it open. Normally she would use her nails, but soccer season meant she had to go without them for now.

"Here let me", Yoko said, holding out her hands. Taking with Enid's permission, she pulls out her metal work name tag from her pocket to cut open the seal before handing it back to her.

Delicately pulling out the only thing nestled within, Enid couldn't help but gasp. For five seconds there was silence as everyone waited for her next reaction to indicate what the gasp was for. To their surprise, her eyes promptly rolled up into her head and she fainted, photo floating to the floor gracefully unlike her.

"Damn. Enid really scored with hot dead girl", Yoko said as she peered down at the photo. The photo was one of Wednesday Addams, black and white, dressed in what looked like a black wedding gown while drenched in blood from head to toe.

"Yoko! Now is not the time!" Divina chastised.

Glancing one last time at the photo and licking her lips as if considering whether or not the blood in the photo had tasted good, Yoko pockets it before a teacher can see it and rushes to Enid's side.

By the time Enid awoke in the hospital, the rumor mill had gotten ten times crazier. This time, they were speculating about Enid's upcoming marriage to the ever mysterious "hot dead girl."

At least that's what the report Eugene had sent through the blasted soul sucking device called a smartphone said. Wednesday herself was camped out in the waiting room of the emergency room, looking pale enough to pass off as a patient without much trouble.

This was not the outcome Wednesday had predicted. How was Wednesday supposed to know the girl would faint at even an image of blood? All Wednesday had tried to do was take pity on the clueless girl and give her an extra clue.

Although, she supposed she could thank the girl for taking her stalking to such a place of suffering, rife with death and sobs of grief.

It was peculiar how only the father came for the girl. He sat silently, watching her with an almost sad gaze. From Wednesday's time in the last two days following her around, she had gathered that she had a massive family. The way they all seemed to believe she was about to meet her demise was quite amusing to Wednesday, and she preferred it this way.

After all, this was about her eventual death. Just not as soon as everyone assumed. Certainly this was entertaining. If it wasn't, Wednesday wouldn't have let the charade run this long. Something about this girl and the way she eventually stumbled into Wednesday's clues intrigued her. It felt like there was something more to the way the girl looked so determined, enough to even interact with Wednesday's family and get into the limousine. Wednesday wasn't sure if she should classify that as bravery or stupidity.

Most of all, what captured Wednesday's attention was the audacity the girl had to completely ignore the doll for almost an entire day before dealing with the idea of her impending death.

Yes, Enid Sinclair was definitely a worthy subject in her experimental game. Death's doll toss had sent the most peculiar answer to the questions she had posed, one that threw a wrench into her carefully planned steps at every turn. A small smirk graced Wednesday's face as she thought about that, because who was Wednesday Addams if not a fan of a good challenge?

Authors Note: I used to work at starbucks, and I would use the metal nametag as a box cutter because it was so strong and thin at the same time and I still use some of the ones that I kept to open things like letters so...

Also for the photo I was thinking something like the outfit Jenna wore with the veil.

I apologize for the short chapter, I intend for the next one to be much longer
