"Mara, Are you ready for school?" My mother asked, "I have to catch my flight."
"Yeah just finishing up," I replied.
"Well hurry up, or I'm not giving you a ride to school."
At this point, I was irritated, mainly because I don't like being rushed.
"Just go. I'll walk to school. It's really not a big deal." I told her.
" Fine. Just please, stay safe." She said concerningly.
She peaked her head through the door, concern clear on her face.
I roll my eyes and walk right past her.
"You know, a little appreciation once in a while would be nice."
" Appreciation for what? Existing? All you ever do is lecture me and let Randy beat me up and call it training. There is nothing to be appreciative about. You're never here!" I snapped. My blood was boiling, and it was only going to go downhill from there.
"Excuse me, young lady! Who do you think you are talking to? You do not get to talk to me like that! I give you a house, food, and nice things, and for that, this is the treatment I get!" She sobbed.
I couldn't feel bad about what I said. I didn't even know that what I said would hurt her so much.
She continued to sit there and cry for at least another 5 minutes while I awkwardly stood there before I finally got up and left the house.
This was the treatment I was used to by my mother. She says something that very obviously was going to start a fight, and when I tell her how I feel, she tries to make me feel guilty by crying. At this point, I'm just over it.
