I gingerly wrapped my arm in gauze, in an attempt to stop the bleeding. If I could get it all healed up before my mom gets home, I just might be able to stay out of what just happened.

A couple of days later, my mom came home, and my cut was healed up. I had hidden the knife in a box under my bed to avoid being found.

I skipped school Wednesday through Friday so that I could stay at home and think about what had happened.

I still can't wrap my head around what happened. I killed someone, but it was out of self-defense. So I couldn't get in that much trouble, right?

Just as I was about to walk out of the front door, I heard my mom's car pull into the driveway.

Before I could even greet her, she and a bunch of movers started putting stuff into giant cardboard boxes and moving stuff out of the house and into a moving truck.

"What's going on mom? Why are they loading up all of our stuff?" I asked.

"We are moving uptown into a new house. A bigger house. Go upstairs and start packing please."

Without a second thought, I ran upstairs and started shoving things into boxes. I had pulled out the box that had the knife in it from under my bed and began piling stuff on top of it so that it didn't look suspicious.

After I had packed up everything that I could, I carried my boxes and bags of stuff out of the house and into the moving truck.

Once the entire house was packed up, my mom and I hopped into her car and drove about 30 minutes to our new house.

When we got into the neighborhood, I saw someone familiar standing in the yard of one of the houses. It was Oakley.

"Crap..." I muttered to myself.

"What's wrong? Did you forget something at the old house?" My mother inquired.

"Oh, it's nothing," I replied

"Okay..." My mother had that same concerned look on her face that she did a couple of days ago. I really hate that look.

Once we got to the house, I got everything that belonged to me unpacked and got into the shower.
