we're living like shirley.

the next morning, aurelia was woken up by a messy haired anne, gently shaking her shoulders to gain her attention.

giggling, aurelia pushed away anne's hand to alert her of her consciousness. with that, anne hummed and continued to dance around the room.

aurelia groggily sat on the side of the bed, legs dangling off from how tall anne's bed was. she rubbed her eyes, which continued with a body stretch to relax her muscles.

with a sleepy voice, she asked — "so, from what i recall, i have to wish a good morning to avonlea, am i correct?" she smiled, fixing anne's bed and arranging the pillows against the headrest.

"affirmative! come along, aurelia." anne excitedly said, stopping aurelia from whatever she was doing and pulling her towards the window.

"how exactly do i do this?" aurelia questioned, feeling quite awkward from the routine.

"allow me to demonstrate." anne said, before she did the usual good morning. aurelia laughed, seeing anne happy makes her happy as well.

"it might not be as good as yours, but here goes nothing." aurelia inhaled a deep breath, before shouting her lungs out the loudest she could. "good morning, avonlea!"

heaving a breathy laugh, anne went up to her side to join in the giggles. "that felt really good for some reason."

"which is why i do it every morning!" anne said excitedly, rushing to her closet while giggling to herself. "here, you can wear my favourite dress. it's not always you get to be me." she said, handing a beautiful, silky blue dress to aurelia.

aurelia audibly gasped as the clothing touched her fingertips. it was so soft! felt like touching a cloud, really.

"this is beautiful!" aurelia continued. "where'd you get it?" she asked, interested in buying one for herself.

"marilla sewed it for me." anne hummed. "that's why it's so dear." aurelia smiled endearingly, adoring anne and marilla's beautiful relationship that bonded over the years.

"are you sure you want me to wear it?" aurelia asked.

"definitely! wearing this would immediately channel your inner anne shirley." she said, holding up the dress in front of aurelia's figure. "plus, you'd look absolutely gorgeous in it."

aurelia giggled, taking the dress to change. "you flatter me too much, shirley."

"not enough." anne replied, changing into her own dress as well.

after tidying up, aurelia asked — "what's next?"

anne hurriedly pulled aurelia downstairs while answering, "we're making pancakes!" in which aurelia replied with an okay.

upon arriving downstairs, the pair were met with a counter top already set up with all the ingredients needed to make yummy pancakes. must've been marilla.

"marilla knows that i always make pancakes on saturday mornings," anne said, rolling up her sleeves. "let's get started on the batter!"

as they were getting messy with the flour, marilla interrupted their cooking session by walking in the kitchen.

"i see you two are up early." marilla said, putting away her hat and coat.

"i'm excited to show aurelia my routine." anne smiled, flipping the pancakes and putting them on a plate that aurelia had prepared beforehand.

"well, i'm going to wash my hair," marilla replied. "you two have your fun. don't forget to clean up the mess later." anne and aurelia simply hummed as a response, playfully fighting over the sink to was their hands first.

while the two were enjoying their pancakes, anne realized that jerry still hasn't come, and his pancakes were about to turn cold.

"aurelia, can you bring this to jerry, please?" anne said with her mouth full, while handing over the plate of pancakes to aurelia.

"is this also a part of the routine?" aurelia teased, still getting hold of the plate carefully.

"today it is." anne smiled, turning back to her almost finished plate of pancakes.

after playfully pinching anne's shoulder, aurelia wiped her mouth with a napkin before running out the house with the plate of fluffy pancakes to give to the farm hand.

from afar, aurelia was shown the sight of jerry milking the cows. she had always wanted to try doing that. even though her father has some cows in his farm, she normally helps with the gardening and plantations instead.

"good morning, jerry!" aurelia shouted, still a bit farther from jerry.

"good morning, aurelia." even though he was a little startled, jerry still replied with a small smile. his eyes went bigger when he saw aurelia wearing a very familiar dress.

"are you wearing anne's dress?" he queried, taking the plate of pancakes in which he thanked aurelia for. before eating, he put away the cows and took a seat on a block of hay.

"yes, i can't believe you noticed. does she really wear it that much?" aurelia giggled, twirling around to show off the dress before taking a seat across from jerry.

"not enough, she would say." he took a bite of the pancakes, closing his eyes in delight from the warmth of it. the weather was pretty chilly that morning.

"did you make this?" he asked. "it tastes a bit different than how anne makes it."

"we made it together, using anne's same recipe. i don't think there could be anything that makes it taste different." aurelia answered, slightly confused.

"maybe your hands are just as magical as miss cuthberts', these are way better than anne's usual." he said, munching away the pancakes aurelia and anne made. "don't tell her that, though."

aurelia giggled. "i won't, don't fret." letting the silence take over, aurelia unknowingly stared at jerry eating his pancakes - which made jerry quite nervous once he's aware of the pair of cunning, green eyes throwing daggers his way.

"is there something on my face, aurelia?" he queried, already wiping the corners of his mouth with his hankie. "you've been eyeing me for a while now."

"oh!" aurelia jumped, even she had no clue as to why she was staring at him so longingly. jerry must've thought she was stupid, glaring at him like a buffoon. her face started heating up from sheer embarrassment. "i'm so sorry jerry, i was just lost in thought." aurelia explained, standing up and hastily patting her dress to remove all the stuck hay strands.

"i'll be going now, i hope you can be a dear and send the plate in by yourself when you're done." she said, hurrying herself back inside. "goodbye jerry!" she bid, waving her arms as she ran towards anne's humble abode.

jerry sat there stunned, waving back while staring at aurelia's raven black hair flowing by the wind.

'pretty.' he thought, finishing the pancakes that were prepared by the same raven haired girl.
