girl talk

laying beneath the thick, warm blanket aurelia's mother crocheted just for her - anne wouldn't stop asking about what happened between her and jerry back at her home.

"seriously anne, i just gave him the flowers and that's it." she giggled, facing the dreamcatcher her sister made for her hanging from the ceiling.

majority of the things in her room were made by her family members, which is a reminder that she is loved by many, and there are tons of shoulders to cry on if she needed to.

the painting anne gave her as a gift for staying over (which aurelia thinks was absolutely unnecessary), is also a symbol that she is now included in those people that love her truly.

"you don't just give flowers to a boy and flee just for you to shrug it off!" anne excitedly said, turning her body to face aurelia's side of the bed. "aurelia, do you like jerry?"

aurelia laughed, covering her mouth when she realised she could've been too loud, her family was sleeping and she did not want them to wake up.

"oh anne, of course not!" she said, wiping a tear from her eye. "i've only known him for what, less than a month? i don't see him like that." she answered, turning her body to face anne.

"what if it's love at first sight?" anne continued. "time doesn't tell when love blooms."

"you should tell that to yourself." aurelia snickered. "when is time going to tell you that love is blossoming between you and gilbert?"

"i just told you, time doesn't tell." anne scoffed. "especially for me and gilbert, because it is not blooming at all."

"right.." aurelia responded with a smirk on her lips, knowing anne was already in deep with this boy. how can everyone else see it but her? if someone tells aurelia that gilbert already knows, she wouldn't even be surprised.

"i am telling the truth!" anne replied, playfully hitting aurelia with a pillow. aurelia wasn't going to let that slide, so she gave her own way of revenge, with her own pillow.

after a tiring but much needed pillow fight, the two were too tired to even talk (can you imagine? that pillow fight must've been rough). so, they called it a night.

or to be exact, anne called it a night, because aurelia ended up staying awake for quite some time. to bother her more, it wasn't because of undone chores or incomplete schoolwork.

it was because of a boy.

think of it, a boy! that is mad!

aurelia has never liked anyone romantically in her whole life, what more to be in such a relationship? she has never even thought about it before!

it must be anne! surely, it must. she didn't even think about it that way when she gave the flowers, it was all anne's love talk afterwards that made her head spin as much as it did.

'oh this is silly.' aurelia thought, chuckling to herself before closing her eyes.

or at least tried to.

it's annoying to her how such a small interaction is the root of why she couldn't sleep for hours. if it was because of school, or she had too much fun for the day that she couldn't bare to go to bed, that's more of an acceptable reason for aurelia.

but, a boy? and jerry, to be more exact?

aurelia sighed and tucked herself in her blanket. as desperate as it seems, she needed sleep - so counting sheep it is.

'good night, avonlea.' she whispered, not forgetting anne's nightly routine.
