"The cracks of the relationship starts to appear, as it shows that high school relationship aren't permanent."

As September drew closer, I couldn't get rid of the uneasy feeling I had. I was nevertheless appreciative to have Alexa beside me despite this. We enjoyed each other's company as we strolled home together every day after school. Sometimes we would go to the neighborhood cafe, and while we waited for our food, I would play a few tunes on the piano. Other times, we would just place an order for food and beverages while collaborating with our pals on our homework.

I couldn't help but gaze at Alexa as we walked as though she were a divine person. Her smile was contagious, and her eyes twinkled like jewels. I was quite grateful to have her as my girlfriend. I had a lot of duties to carry out as our class's president. To be distributed to the students were papers from the other professors. That was a difficult effort, but with the aid of my pals, I was able to stay on top of things.

One day, as Alexa and I were on our way home, I decided to detour and take her to a local park. The air was crisp, and the leaves had started to take an orange hue. I could see Alexa's face being bathed in a warm glow as the sun shone through the trees.

She questioned, "Alfonso, why did we come here?" as she gazed around in awe.

I said, taking her hand and walking her to a quiet area of the park, "I wanted to show you something.

I couldn't help but feel anxious in my chest while we were walking. I wanted everything to be ideal because I had spent weeks planning this moment.

I turned to her when we arrived at the location and took both of her hands. I said, "Alexa, there's something I need to tell you," in a trembling voice.

She said, her gorgeous eyes gazing up at me and asking, "What is it?"

"We've been dating for three months now, and I told you I loved you as my heart swelled with emotion. I want to spend the rest of my life with you because I have loved you since the first time I met you."

She looked at me with tears in her eyes and whispered, "Alfonso, I love you too," wrapping her arms around my neck.

Everything seemed ideal at that very time. I was holding the love of my life in my arms as the sun shone and the birds sang. But this was a memory of my past that I can cherish forever. An illusion of what's to come in the days following it. I couldn't help but wonder if Alexa had decided to end our relationship already. Was it a mistake on my part? Did I not pay enough attention to her? Even though I made an effort to ignore those thoughts, they kept returning like a never-ending nightmare.

As the days went by, I observed that Alexa was separating herself from me and that our interactions were getting less and shorter. She always seemed to be preoccupied with something else, and she seemed to have forgotten about me. Although I made every effort to make things work, nothing seemed to make a difference. Was I losing her? Perhaps, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Every night as I laid in bed, I would look up at the ceiling and relive our experiences. She smiled at me and had eyes that twinkled like stars when we first met, and I still recall that. I recalled how content we were together and how we used to chat endlessly about everything.

It still greatly pains me. We had just finished our second quarter exams in September. As I reached her house to take her up, I noticed that someone was already there. It was a young man from the adjacent area. Realizing that my biggest nightmare had come true, my heart fell. The realization that she had cheated on me was too much for me to stomach, and I sobbed on the side of the road. I was unable to comprehend why this was taking place to me. Despite my best efforts to make her happy, she still made another choice. The discomfort was nearly intolerable.
