Days had passed since they'd killed the burned one, Dowling had given each fairy weekend detention, which Talia served without shame.
She didn't mind helping out in the canteen, the kitchen staff was friendly, and they let her help herself to whatever dessert she wanted.
Multiple things had developed over the weekend and the following school day, Dowlings assistant Calum had left for a family emergency, and Aisha had temporarily replaced him, and the second more bothersome development, Blooms secret was out.
Riven had somehow found out, told one other person, and it grew like a wildfire.
Now Bloom was branded a dangerous changling.
Talia was miffed with Riven, but she was more upset with Stella.
When Talia had confronted him, Riven admitted he didn't even need to spread the story, as Stella had announced it loudly to him, in front of a crowd of people.
"Is that true?"
Talia was dragged from her thoughts as Dane spoke.
She, Dane, Beatrix, and Riven we're on the balcony of the canteen, watching the students below.
"About changelings?"
He clarified, as they watched Bloom uncomfortably stroll through the canteen, two meals in hand.
"One hundred percent. Changelings were a way for pissed-off fairies to get revenge on the First World. Swap a fairy for a First World baby and wait for it to wreak havoc."
Beatrix divulged, making Talia roll her eyes.
"Changelings are bad news. It's why we stay on their good side. Or try to, at least."
Dane's eyes followed something below, and Talia followed his eyeline to see Terra hurrying through.
"I'll see you guys at the assembly."
Dane decided, taking off.
Talia sighed.
"I don't know what the two of you are doing with that boy, but for gods sakes don't break him."
She told the couple, earning smirks.
"Oh, I can't tell what's more tragic, the fact that he thinks Terra's gonna forgive him for that video, or that he believed all that changeling bullshit you just fed him."
Riven said, watching Dane chase after the earth fairy.
"It's not all bullshit. Changelings can be dangerous. You did everyone a favor."
Talia winced.
"Bloom does have... control issues. She never had anyone to teach her until now, but she's catching on quick."
Beatrix hummed in agreement.
"I've gotta go meet Stella and welcome her mum, catch you guys later."
"It's one day, Stel. Half a day."
Sky told Stella reassuringly.
Talia had nearly groaned when she'd found him waiting with Stella, their situationship was giving her a headache.
"Half a day of everyone adoring her like she's literally the sun."
"Well, she is the Queen of Light."
Talia snickered at that, nudging Sky approvingly.
"This whole Burned One assembly she's doing, I know she's really just here to check on my progress."
