"I mean it's bullshit seriously, the more blood I have the more powerful I am, she's trying to hold me back. She's mad I transformed without her precious coaching like Bloom. And gods forbid I measure up to her star pupil. I honestly pity Bloom, like Rosalind is obsessed. Gods if my aunt wasn't the fucking queen id have dipped by now."
Sky listened silently as Talia paced her small room, waving her arms expressively as she spoke.
"This place has gone to shit, Bloom was talking about running off this weekend to find Dowling, which is a dumbass idea. But she's right about one thing, without Farrah, and Saul this place is a fucking prison."
Talia snapped her mouth shut when she realized she'd mentioned Silva, looking to Sky unsurely.
His face was stony, and she let out an exhausted sigh, flopping onto her single bed next to him.
"I'm sorry I just needed to get that out."
Sky's face softened.
"I understand, honestly I agree. I hate Silva but I can't pretend things are better without him."
She nodded, nuzzling her head onto his shoulder.
"And I agree Rosalind is way out of line. Tal... if you- if you get too hungry-"
"I'm not feeding from you like a leech."
Talia interrupted, knowing where Sky was heading.
"I trust you not to hurt me."
He assured her softly, taking her hand in his.
She groaned.
"It's not about control it's... it's about like the principle of it. I fed from you in an emergency, I don't want to objectify you into a personal blood bag."
Sky sighed.
"I wouldn't feel that way, but I get it. I won't push it."
He promised.
"Thank you."
Talia drew his face to hers, softly kissing him.
"You're amazing you know."
She told him against his lips.
"I could say the same about you."
He chuckled.
Talia smiled and went to kiss him again, but his phone buzzed, and he jumped to check it.
"Ugh."
She grumbled.
"Sorry love, Andreas has called for an unscheduled afternoon training."
Sky said, his tone filled with irritation.
"Can't you just skip?"
Talia complained, grabbing a fistful of his shirt, and pulling him back to her as he went to stand.
"Andreas is nightmare enough without it."
He pecked her lips, and left.
She never missed how he only called him Andreas, not dad. And judging by what she'd witnessed of their dynamic, it was warranted. It seemed almost like Andreas was angry at Sky for his association with Saul, like he'd had a choice.
Talia glanced at the spot where her mini fridge stocked with blood used to be, and growled in irritation again.
Fucking Rosalind.
The next afternoon Talia made her way to the stone circle, hoping for some solitude to practice her magic.
She hadn't had any classes taught by Rosalind that day (thank the gods) so her limited magic hadn't been depleted on useless tasks.
Less blood, less power.
Rosalind wanted her weak, so to reserve her magic she'd decided to tap into the stone circle to practice.
She spent hours manipulating the shadows around the circle, forming them into objects, weapons, and seeing how far she could stretch a single existing shadow. Manipulating shadows required less energy than creating darkness, but she found that darkness she'd formed was easier to solidify.
Tired, and sweating from the afternoon sun, she trodded back to the campus. Students she passed gave her a wide berth. Ever since Rosalind had taken over, people were more afraid of her. The witch had been spreading stories of Talias abilities. There'd even been a rumor that the dark fairy could turn other fairies. Take away their natural element and make them vampires like her. She wondered if there was truth to that, Rosalind seemed to let on that she knew a lot about dark fairies.
Talia showered, dressed in her usual black attire, and settled at her desk for another night holed up in her room. Unless Sky or Riven was free, she spent her time alone, in her dorm or the library.
She'd been searching for information on dark fairies, but the library seemed bare on the subject. She'd thought about asking Beatrix for help. Despite everything, they'd maintained a friendliness towards each other. But Dane was aboard the "dangerous vampire" train. And Talia wasn't sure she could trust the air fairy with the company she kept, and her connection to Rosalind.
A chime filled Talia's ears, and she checked her phone to see a text from Bloom.
East yard, ASAP.
Sorry I know it's been a minute. I hope y'all like it. 😁
