"Set up camp here!" barks out Austria-Hungary, "The quicker you all set up, the quicker you get to eat and rest!"

"Sir yes sir!"

Austria-Hungary beams with pride as the soldiers work with every ounce of energy they have. "Scouts," he says as the scouts immediately go to attention, "survey the surrounding area for any enemies or resources, bring back whatever you deem useful." The scouts salute and group into parties before going to survey the surrounding land. 

On the other side of camp, Y/N is hammering the nails into the ground so that her tent won't fly away should the weather turn sour. She's cut her hair so that it resembles that of a boy cut, can't have any risks that her comrades will find out that she's a woman. Hammering the last nail into the ground, Y/N takes a step back to admire her handiwork. It's not perfect, but is a good set up. She hasn't spoken to any other soldiers, after all,  anything could blow her cover. If she sticks to isolation, then she can carry out orders without any hesitation or a second thought.

"That's good work there soldier," Austria-Hungary compliments from behind her. Startled by his unexpected arrival, Y/N stutters before turning to attention. Austria-Hungary only offers a smile before turning to leave her be once more. She lets out a breath of air she'd been holding in and slowly relaxes her body. She raises her hand to see it's shaking and brings it to her chest with a sigh. Breathe in, and breathe out, she practices this until she feels much more calm than before. It's time to go assist the others with their tasks...

Dinnertime is several groups of soldiers around a couple of fireplaces. Their utensils clink as the eat their rations from tins slowly. Hard biscuits, fruits, and vegetables is what mostly makes up their diet. Any bread or meat is extremely rare and hard to come by. The soldiers bustle with conversation as they talk to their friends or mutual soldier. Y/N sits at the edge of a log in silence. Focusing on the dancing flames of warmth before her as she eats another bite of potato. The logs pop and crackle as occasional embers break free, before dying out soon after. The smoke blows whichever way the wind carries it, so long as it's not in Y/N's eyes, she doesn't mind. She sighs and looks up into the sky, admiring the dazzling stars that sparkle so far away. What would it be like if one day they could touch the sky? She shakes the thought away, it's futile to think of something impossible. Still though...

"The stars are very pretty, aren't they?" Austria Hungary asks beside her on the log.

"Ah, sir!" Y/N stutters as she turns to look at her commander. "Uh, well, well, yes, they are, pretty I mean," Y/N mumbles as she turns away from the eye contact in favor of staring at the flames once more. Austria-Hungary smiles softly at the soldier before standing up and dismissing himself. Sighing, Y/N bounces her leg as she continues to become lost to her thoughts.

Before she realizes how much time has passed, soldiers are standing up from their seats, and packing up their garbage. Y/N continues to sit with her eyes glued to the fire, so long as she doesn't look at them she'll be alright. Suddenly a hand is placed on her shoulder, prompting her to look up at the soldier, tearing her gaze away from the flams.

"Are you alright soldier?" He asks her.

"Oh, I'm alright sir," Y/N says, barely covering the waver in her voice with a small smile.

"If you say so."

Y/N sighs as she picks up her trash and stands up to dispose of it appropriately. All the other fires have been put out with water or smothering. Y/N grabs a tarp and throws it over the fire before stamping it out with her boots. She throws her trash away before making her way back to her tent. Thankfully her bunkmates are out bathing at the moment, meaning she can change into nightwear without much stress.
