Chapter 10: The Jump

On Friday, we all gathered together at

Gabbi's house to swim and watch a movie. Gabbi had forgotten to tell us that she had to babysit at seven o'clock the next morning, so our evening was cut short. It was only ten when we all walked to the driveway to go to our cars that lined her street.

"Hey, what are you guys doing tomorrow?" Jordan asked as we walked down the driveway.

"Nothing, why?" I was the only one who responded. Everyone else just stopped to listen.

"You guys wanna go swimming up at King Lake with me, Katherine, and Greyson?" He asked.

"Dude! Yes!" Miles exclaimed.

"Yeah, I'm in," Adrian said.

"Me too," Ava chimed in

"I'm in!" I said last.

"Awesome, it's in Alabama, like two hours from here so meet up at the church at ten?" Jordan asked.

We all agreed to meet up then and carpool to the lake. It was rare that we were able to do things during the day, so I was more excited than usual. I needed a good long summer day to fill the void in my mind. I still hadn't had any excitement and I needed something to happen, soon. The next morning, Jordan, Katherine, Greyson, and I were the first ones to the church.

"I'm so pumped!" Jordan exclaimed.

"Me too! It's gonna be LIT!" Katherine yelled.

"You guys are really excited to go swimming at a lake," I laughed.

"No man, there's a bat cave you can swim by... and.... cliff jumping!" Katherine said excitedly.

"Do what?" I asked with my eyebrows raised so high that I was sure they were touching my hair line.

"Aw come on Ind, It'll be fun!" Greyson said, pushing back my shoulder.

"Y'all, I am terrified of heights. I'm too sober for this," I joked.

"It'll be fine! We'll cheer you on," Katherine encouraged.

"Yeah, it'll be fine!" Greyson added with a wink.

"Well, can the four of us ride together? That'll help calm my nerves if we can blare our music with the windows down the whole way. I know Ava wouldn't go for that."

"Of course Ind!" Jordan exclaimed.

Once Adrian, Miles, and Ava arrived, we all loaded up into Miles' and my cars and entered the lake's location in the GPS. We threw our bags and towels into the trunk. Greyson took the passenger seat by me while Katherine and Jordan took the back seat. As soon as the car was moving, they were making out.

"Are you guys ever going to make this official or are you just gonna eat each other's faces off until people notice?" Greyson joked.

"Shut up Greyson!" Katherine yelled from the back.

It was true. They had been talking for a while and they made out constantly. Anytime they got the chance, they were on top of each other. It didn't matter if we were around or not. Katherine blamed it on the honeymoon phase of their relationship, but I told them they were just gross.

When we were just thirty minutes out from the lake, Miles called.

"Hey!" His voice filled the car over the Bluetooth audio.

"Whats up Miles?" I asked.

"We're gonna stop at this gas station and get some drinks and snacks."

"Sounds good. We'll follow," I replied.
