...

Ciardia

They had split up. Stupid? They knew it was but neither of them wanted to be caught together. It was better if they were apart. If one was caught the other was still out there. Ciardia tried her best to stay in the shadows but she wasn't as nearly skilled as Inej was. The stadwatch was after her, but she assumed it wasn't just for an apparent murder.

The stadwatch wasn't the only thing she had to be worried about. The information that Ciardia was the long lost daughter of General Kirigian would sky rocket her to top of anyone's hit list, especially after Kirigian's betrayal.

Ciardia struggled through the busy streets of Ketterdam, she had no clue how she was supposed to find Inej again or if Kaz had managed to escape. All she wanted to do was go back to when she was known as Dirty hands right hand man, nobody laid a hand on her. It was all different now.

"Hey! There she is!" A man yelled, Ciardia looked over, a constable pointed at her.

"Shit. Shit shit," Ciardia ran, trying her best not to run into anyone. She tried to slow them down, she tried to slow their hearts until they stopped moving, some fell but others were resistant to her. Times like these she wished she had more training.

"Stop her!"

Ciardia gave up on relying on her grisha abilities to help her. She decided she was going to take the Jesper way out of this situation, minus the Guns. Ciardia grabbed ahold o a newspaper stand, pushing it down to the ground causing a constable to trip over it. "Ha!" She laughed as she ran further down the Barrel. If she could make it to the bottom of the Barrel she would be safe from them, but not from whatever reside down there. But that was a problem for another time.

Kaz

The two boys made their way down the streets of the Barrel. Kaz's mind oddly not focused on the fact that they were let go, or the fact that the man who let them leave was after the Sun Summoner. His mind was focused solely on Ciardia. He was worried, he knew Inej could handle staying in the shadows away from prying eyes. Ciardia on the other hand had a bigger target on her back. One that was almost as large as the Sun Summoner.

"We are in the literal bottom of the Barrel." Jesper spoke looking around the dark streets.

"Stadwatch don't patrol down here. We're safer." Kaz replied not looking anywhere but ahead of him. He knew it was safer to avoid any eye contact with anyone down here. Kaz could sense someone was watching them. "Inej, what did you find?"

"We are accused of murdering Tante Heleen." Inej spoke joining the group. Jesper jumped at her sudden appearance.

"Wait, what? We didn't do that, though." Jesper spoke stopping. "Wait did you do that?" He asked Inej.

"It was Pekka Rollins, wasn't it? He framed us for murder." Kaz said, but that thought made him worried even more. Ciardia was no where to be found and Pekka Rollins had it out for them. Their conversation was cut off by the sound of someone running, and soon Jesper was tackled to the ground.

"Jesper? Thank the saints. Did I ever tell you how thankful I am that I met you?" Ciardia said laying on the ground next the Jesper.

"Nice to see you too?" Jesper laughed, getting off the ground and helping the girl up. Kaz let out a sigh of relief. She was fine.

"Did you know jumping off a bridge is really fun?" Ciardia said with a lopsided smile. Kaz looked at her funnily, maybe she wasn't fine.

"Where are you dragging me off too?" Ciardia asked as she followed Kaz through the dark alley way, but Kaz didn't answer her. "Hello? Earth the Kaz,"

"Why did you two split up?" Kaz finally said, stopping to look at her.

"We thought it was better too? If one of us got caught at least one of us was still out." Ciardia explained but that answer didn't didn't satisfy him.

"You have a bigger target on your back now. You understand that. Everyone will be looking for you. Now that they know you're Grisha, that you are a Kirigian-"

"Kaz I'm fine." She said looking at him. "I should be the one worrying. I know what Pekka did to you, trust me I do." Kaz turned his head to the side. "Hey. Just promise me that you won't do anything that will get you killed. You're all I have left."

Kaz looked at her again. "You know I can't promise that." Ciardia sighed not knowing what else to say. Kaz went to grab her hand but hesitated. He has been scared to touch her ever since they got on the boat back to Ketterdam. He was scared of falling helplessly in love. He was scared of loosing her.

For once in his life he's admitting to himself that he is scared.
