I am so dead.

I slump to my knees, releasing shaky breaths. Letting myself take a moment to take in the fact I have basically declared war on the Great Devourer herself. Probably putting myself up there on the serpent's hitlist.

I am also probably the first in history to have ever maimed the one and only Great Devourer.

Oh my ancestors are going to be so mad at me. I put my head in my hands and groan loudly at the predicament.

"Mira! You still up there?" Nya shouts from somewhere below.

I remove my face from my hands and stand. Walking over to the edge of the metal plate I'm on. Waving down at Nya below who is staring up at me with her hands on her hips. Squinting against the sun. She smiles upon seeing me.

I carefully climb back down the junk pile, to come stand beside her. She claps me on the shoulder with a smile. "Nice move back there. Got worried when you ran out, but I guess the snake has a soft spot for serpentine after all."

I only smile sheepishly in response. Not having the heart to tell her that I was not at all safe for any moment during that encounter and I'm surprised I got out of it unscathed. I do wonder why she didn't eat me on sight though.

The glass hood of the tank-vehicle pops open. "What's the damage?" Cole asks the others as he hops out.

Zane leans out from his seat since he's closest to the sight of the damage. "Looks like we lost the back wheel, but damage is minimal."

"Okay that's not too bad. We can probably fix it back up and try again." Cole says.

"Again?" Jay exclaims. Hopping out of the vehicle and turning to the ninja in black. "You want to do that again?! After it was a total failure?"

"It wasn't a total failure," Kai climbs out from his seat. Eyes bright as he jumps down to the ground. "Did you guys notice on her forehead?" He taps his own. "It has a weak spot! And with Mira's blow, it will make it harder for it to see us coming!"

"Oh, great. Let me make a note of that." Jay sarcastically comments. Pretending to hold up a pen and paper and writing on it. "Giant snake has wee, itty-bitty weak spot. That'll be totally impossible to get at! Because the thing is too ridiculously huge to do anything to stop it!" He throws his invisible clipboard to the ground in his fit.

"Are you done?" Nya crosses her arms.

Jay takes one deep breath, holds it with fists clenching at his sides. Before he releases it in one heavy sigh. "Yes."

"Because things just got a lot worse, look!" Nya points towards the retreating shape of the Great Devourer in the distance. I frown, confused, because all I see is the beast fleeing.

Zane gasps in horror. "It's heading for Ninjago City!"

"That's where my parents are," Jay realizes with fear.

"So is everyone else," Cole exclaims.

"If it consumes the biggest city in Ninjago, there will be no stopping it." Kai says hopelessly.

Sensei Wu looks on troubled. "The city will be under-prepared to handle such a beast. Humans haven't faced a threat like this in decades. We must act fast or else there will be no one else to defend."

Cole sighs, looking back at the damaged vehicle. "I don't think we have enough time to fix this thing for battle."

I shake my head, signing. "No, but we still have Zane. We can figure something out there to amplify the sacred flute recording. That's what was effective against her. It will at least give us something."
