The next morning, Crys woke up and sighed. "Off to school." She muttered. After that, she got ready for school, met up with Brandon and headed off to school like usual. The day went by without a hitch. Crys was glad that after yesterday everything was normal again. It was extremely relieving to her knowing that it would all be okay. That night, Brandon and Crys went out into the forest to explore a little.
"How come we haven't looked around this part of the forest yet, Crys?" Brandon asked while walking alongside Crys.
"I don't know." Crys said flatly. "Why would I know?" Crys added on, sounding disinterested.
"Okay, okay." Brandon responded. "No need to be all grumpy about it." He said flatly.
"Yeah, yeah." Crys said, dismissing Brandon.
"Is something wrong?" Brandon asked, wondering why Crys sounded so grumpy.
"Sorry." Crys said quickly. "Just a bit tired."
"Oh." Brandon said. "Why don't we just go home then?"
Crys thought about it for a moment. "Eh... nah. Might as well explore. Don't feel like just going back home just to curl up on my bed and go to sleep. Just feels like a waste of time. Besides, if I wanted to stay home, I would have just stayed human for the night."
"Makes sense." Brandon said.
The two of them kept walking through the forest with no real destination in mind. After some bit of walking, the two of them encountered something strange.
"Hey Brandon?" Crys asked, sounding very confused.
"Hmm?" Brandon responded.
"Is, is that a door over there?" Crys asked while pointing over into the distance.
"What?" Brandon asked, baffled. He looked over to where Crys was pointing. She was right. There was a door embedded into the side of a small hill. It was grey and looked somewhat advanced in its simplistic monotone design. "What in the...?" Brandon said, now just as confused as Crys. "Why is there a door just in the middle of the forest?"
"I have no idea." Crys said in a confused trance. "I'm going to go take a look at this." Crys said as she started walking over to the door.
"Hold on, this doesn't seem like a good idea." Brandon said as he also started walking to the door.
When Crys got to the door, she could see a small control panel on the center of the door. It had a key card reader and several buttons. "I'm sure this will be fine." Crys said, trying to convince herself while also responding to Brandon.
"Crys, we could just go home now, yeah?" Brandon asked, hopeful.
"We'll be fine." Crys said again, still uncertain. She pressed one of the buttons on the doors control panel that looked like an open button and the door swiftly slid open. Behind the door was a very long looking hallway, with fluorescent lights lining the ceiling and a smooth concrete floor.
"Whoa." Brandon and Crys said in unison. The two of them glanced at each other briefly.
"You think there'd be better security." Crys remarked. "After you." She gestured for Brandon to enter with a smile and a wave of her hands.
"Oh no, you first, I insist." Brandon said back, giving Crys the same gesture.
"Don't mind if I do." Crys said, a little nervous, as she took the first step into the hall. "Wait, actually," Crys said before walking in fully. She went and grabbed a nearby rock she found on the forest floor and placed it in between the two sides of the door. "Just in case it shuts." Crys said before actually walking in.
