The next day, Brandon and Crys went to school and mentioned nothing of the previous night. Throughout the whole day, the two of them silently avoided each other. They would still pass each other in the halls, have class together and say hi, but for the most part they both minded their own business.
Saturday, Brandon woke up feeling tired and groggy. He slowly rolled his way out of bed and got up. He went and looked out the window. It was a beautiful day outside, but he didn't quite care if it was rainy or sunny that day. Brandon went and looked at the clock. It was already almost noon. Feeling fairly hungry, he decided to go out and grab some lunch and figure out how to reconcile with Crys later.
Meanwhile, Crys was working on a bit of homework that was due the following Monday. She had been up since nine and hadn't made herself any breakfast. She debated about calling Brandon and asking if he'd want to go get some lunch with her, but she decided against it. Crys, feeling peckish, recalled Brandon once mentioning a cafe he liked not too far out. Crys quickly finished up the last of her homework and started to make her way to the cafe. Not too long after Crys began her trek, she arrived at the cafe and entered. The cafe was a quaint place. It had several booths lining the wall and some tables in the middle of the room. The cafe gave off a vibe of hominess. Crys looked around taking in the nice little cafe when she spotted someone familiar. She walked up to the booth that the person was sitting in.
"Mind if I sit here?" Crys asked.
"Not at all." Brandon said timidly.
Crys sat down across from Brandon. "Even when we don't talk to each other we still wind up at the same place." Crys said. "Weird."
"Yeah." Brandon said. He looked away from Crys.
Crys stayed silent for a moment. "So, how's your day been so far?" Crys asked, hoping to maybe spark some sort of conversation.
"Just woke up about half an hour ago." Brandon replied. He paused a moment. "Listen, about Thursday night..." Brandon began to say.
"Let's just forget about it." Crys said, hopefully. "I mean, so what? Some sort of evil you exists? It's not the end of the world."
Brandon squinted his eyes, thinking about if it could actually be the end of the world. "Maybe?" He said, uncertain.
"About what I did..." Crys started saying in a sheepish tone.
"Nothing to it." Brandon quickly said in a flat tone. He went quiet and so did Crys. "So uh, you want to take a look at the menu?" Brandon nudged his menu over to Crys.
"Thanks." Crys said. She glanced over the menu looking for something of interest. "So, we're still friends, right?" Crys asked nervously while debating on what she'd order.
"Yeah, of course." Brandon said, feeling as nervous as Crys.
Crys gave a little nod of acknowledgement as well as a small smile.
The two of them continued talking little by little until eventually they started chatting like nothing had even come between them. They ate their meals and left when they were done. The two of them then hung out for the rest of the day, eventually going out to the forest for a bit when night fell. The two of them walked together for a while before coming up to the cliff that overlooks the clearing.
"Why is it we always come here whenever we walk through the forest?" Crys asked.
"No clue." Brandon said with a shrug. "It's just pretty I guess."
A breeze passed by, bringing with it the autumn air.
"Halloween is in a few weeks, isn't it?" Crys wondered aloud.
