It was night. Dark, if not for the street lights to brighten peoples way. The buildings of the city seemed to loom over Brandon. He wished he could see the stars, and the moon, but the buildings thought that they would not give him that pleasure. He was walking down the sidewalk to get home from the park. Nobody else was out except for the occasional stranger or two. He passed by yet another dark alleyway when something pulled him into it without trouble Brandon stumbled down onto the concrete floor of the alley. The thing that pulled Brandon into the alley took shape to form a person. The shape had two others just like it, with sinister looks in their eyes. "Stay down if you know what's good for you." Said one of the figures. "And hand over your valuables." Said the second figure. In fear, Brandon had no choice to comply. That, and there was a gun pointed at him. He slowly went to grab his phone, which happened to be the only really valuable thing with him at the moment. Suddenly, from behind the tree figures something dropped to the ground with a slight thud. The something that had landed straightened itself out, rising upwards until it was taller than the other people in the alley. It was large and loomed over the scene. It had claws and sharp teeth that seemed quite painful. Brandon being the only one to notice this creature so far, stared in fear and began moving backwards, not really knowing what else to do.

"HEY!" Yelled the figure with the gun. "Stop moving!"

Brandon complied, however he stuttered with fear for the thing that was behind them cracked a twisted wicked smile.

"Why don't you three quit huh?" Said the creature.

The three crooks turned around to see the monster, and they all laughed.

"And what are you going to do?" Said one of them.

"Yeah, stupid costume you got on." said the one with the gun.

"Oh, really?" said the creature with some sort of sarcasm in its voice. It then hit one of the crooks with a large, forceful, painful punch that knocked the crook out cold. It then proceeded to kick the second crook in the gut, hard. The crook fell, absorbed by the pain. The crook with the gun was the last one standing, and since he had a gun, he tried to shoot the creature, however the creature simply dodged the bullet. The monster threw the crook into the alleyway wall with a loud, very painful sounding, thud.

Brandon looked at the creature from his prone position fearing what it might do to him. However the creature just turned to look down at him, and for a moment they locked eyes. In that moment, Brandon felt like he recognized something, he didn't know exactly what, since he didn't ever recall meeting any creature like this before, but something about the creature seemed familiar. The monster leaped high into the sky, to the top of one of the nearby buildings as quickly and as suddenly as it had first appeared. Brandon, still quite stunned, was grateful that this thing, whatever it was, saved him. After a moment of coming to grips with what just happened, Brandon got up, and started to run home. Home, he needed to get home. He was nearly robbed, killed, and saw what he could only describe as a creature from a horror film. He wanted to just get home and hide. Although, in the back of his mind he was also curious. Curious about what that thing was, why it saved him, and why it looked ever so slightly familiar to him. And while he was running, the creature watched him as he ran. From where it was perched, it wondered. It wondered all about the boy it saved. Curious what would happen next, and wondering if he had recognized it.
