"So?" He asked. I took a deep breath. "Well... I was surprising Josh... obviously. And well. When I went into his room..." I stopped. How the fuck am I supposed to tell him!? "He was with Nessa... They- They were kissing." I said. "Tell me this is a Fucking joke." He said. "I wish." I said softly. He was quiet. I saw his grip on the steering wheel tighten. "I'm really sorry Jaden. I didn't know how to tell you. And then ontop of that Nessa and Josh told me not to tell you. But I couldn't do that. I just... You had to know." I said. "Josh texted me." He said. I snapped my head to him. "He did?" I asked. "He told me that you were gonna try and convince me they were hooking up, because you were mad when he broke up with you." I looked at him in pure shock. "And you believe him?" I asked.
"Hell no. I though something was going on with him and Nessa. But I just though I was crazy. And when you told me something happened with Josh I knew it had to do with Nessa. I just knew it." He said. I stayed quiet. "I'm sorry Em, you didn't deserve that." He said softly. "Neither did you." I said. "Yeah, I guess." He said softly. I looked over at him. I could tel he was hurt. For good reason. I mean honestly I am too. We have every right to be. Not only were they our boyfriend and girlfriend, they were our best friends. Like genuinely Josh and Nessa both were my best friends. "You okay Jaden?" I asked softly. "Yeah." He said in almost a whisper.
We pulled up to a small little diner where we were planning on eating. But honestly I didn't really feel like eating. We walked in and I looked around as we walked in. It was a cute diner. One that looked like it was from a movie set. I looked over and I could tell Jaden was hesitating to walk up to the counter. "No appetite huh?" I asked. "Yeah how'd you guess?" He asked. "I honestly don't feel like eating either." I said. "Then you wanna just go hang out? Do something to get our minds off it all?" He asked. "Yeah, that honestly sounds great." I said. He softly smiled as he looked at me. We walked out and went back into his car. I leaned my head back against the head rest and closed my eyes. Everyone going on right now, but I'm honestly glad Jaden believed me.
As he started driving I looked over at him. "So, how did it go in the studio?" I asked. "Really good. I finished up some stuff I had been working on for awhile." He said. "Yeah? That's awesome." I said. "Yeah." He said. "Speaking of, I think we need some music... this car ride is WAYYYYY too quiet." I said. He let out a small laugh. "Here." He handed me his phone which had been connected to his car. I smiled and went into Spotify and started playing music. I played Juice Wrld on shuffle. Jaden looked at me shocked. "You listen to juice wrld?" "Uh... yeah... the fact that you didn't no that scares me. We've been friends for so long." I said. He let out a small laugh. "You have good music taste." He said.
We both sang along to the music that played. I looked over at Jaden as he drove and we were both just screaming the words and smiling. I almost forgot everything that had happened. I smiled as I watched Jaden happily singing along. He eyes flickered over to me and he let out a small laugh. "What?" He asked with a smile. "How are we both able to be happy right now? Like after everything..." I said. "I mean, I'm not sure about you, but my relationship wasn't all that great before. So I don't know... I guess I'm kinda relieved." He said. "Honestly, me too..." I said with a sigh. "Really? I thought you and Josh had this perfect relationship." "Far from it. The last few weeks he's been distant. And he kept getting angry easily. Which honestly is triggering." I said. "Wait, he didn't- he never hurt you... did he?" He asked. "Josh? No! He never laid a hand on me. But I wasn't in the greatest relationship before. And so just scars... you know?" I asked. "Yeah, I get it." He said. I looked at him and said, "You know no one has ever tried to understand. Not even Josh. He would always get upset when I would flinch when he would raise his voice. He said I should get over it since it had been so long since I had been with my ex." I said. "Oh my god. That is no where near okay to say. I'm so sorry you felt with that." He said. "It's okay, he's no longer my boyfriend. So I guess I don't have to deal with him anymore." I said. "Yeah."
Jaden and I kept talking and we ended up stopping at a gas station. "You want anything? A drink? Or something to eat?" Jaden asked as we walked in. "No I'm okay." I said softly. Jaden rolled his eyes. "You like takis right?" He asked. "Yeah, why?" I asked. I then saw him grab a bag and then brought them to the counter. Jaden Hossler. I said I was fine." I said. "Yeah, we'll I know you at least somewhat and I know you're gonna want them." He said. I rolled my eyes. "Fine." I then went to grab my wallet. "It's fine Em, I've got it." He said. "No. No you do not." I said as I continued trying to get my wallet. I looked up as he was handing the lady behind the counter the cash. "Jaden!" I said. He smiled at me. "You two are such a cute couple. I remember when I was in love at your age." She said. Jaden and I both laughed. "Oh. No. We're just friends." I said. She smiled at me. "I wonder how long that'll last." She said. I looked at Jaden and we were both confused. We walked out and back to the car. I then saw Jaden place a redbull and a monster in the cup holders. "You still like monster... right?" He asked. "When did you grab that!?" I asked making him laugh. "I can't believe you right now." I said. He laughed again. "You can pay me back later." He said. "You are not allowed to buy me things. Even if it's cheap stuff like a drink." I said. "How come?" He asked. "Cause then I feel spoiled and annoying." I said. "You are neither." He said. "Yeah, doesn't change how I feel." I said. "What did Josh never buy you anything?" He asked. "No... not really." I said. "Huh." Jaden said. "Thank you though." I said with a smile. "Anytime." He said.
I jokingly took a picture of Jaden and I and wrote, "Besties!" then I posted it on my instagram story.
