Mike's POV

"So sweetheart, when are you going to invite Tony around for dinner again?" My mum asked, unknowing of what had happened between us.

"Uh, I don't know. Some time I guess." I said awkwardly, immediately feeling guilty about the situation between Tony and I.
I didn't mean for it to turn out like this, I never wanted to stop being friends with him, I just needed my space.

It was around midnight when I heard a knock at the front door. Everyone else had gone to bed, so I moved from my space on the sofa and approached the door.

Opening the door, I was slightly frustrated to see Tony standing outside. I told him to give me some space for a while, let alone the fact it's midnight and he suddenly decides to pay me a visit.
"Tony, I thought I told you to-" I started, and then I noticed. It was too dark to see it before, but as my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I noticed the bruises on his face, and his red, puffy eyes, and the dried blood that had been dripping from his nose.

"I know, I'm sorry. It's just- it's my dad- and I didn't know where to go and-" he sobbed, unable to finish his sentence.

"Hey, it's okay, come in, let's get you cleaned up." I said, trying to comfort him the best I could.

I ran the washcloth under the tap for a few moments before lightly dabbing the dry blood away from the nose of the boy perched on the side of my bathtub. We haven't really muttered a word to each other since I invited him in, the only sounds coming from him being soft sobs and sniffles.

"Okay, I think you're all clean" I said quietly, finishing dabbing Tony's face.

"Thank you." Tony muttered, looking up to meet my gaze before quickly looking back down at the floor.

"Come on then, up you get" I said, offering a hand to Tony who gratefully accepted and followed me into my bedroom.

For a few minutes it felt like we were back at the day Tony came to my house for the first time, him quietly sitting on the edge of my bed as we awkwardly tried to make conversation.

"Uh, I better get back. Thanks Mike." Tony said, standing up from his seat.

"No-" I said, almost too sternly. "I mean- stay, I'm not letting you go back to your dad after what he's done."

"Mike, I'm really sorry about what happened. I'll understand if you don't want to be my friend anymore"

"It's not your fault, Tony. It's mine. I'm the one that kissed you."

Tony coughed awkwardly. "Can I ask, why did you kiss me? I'm guessing you just did it out of pity, I mean, you're straight?"

I sighed, I wasn't even sure how I was feeling at the moment, how am I supposed to explain it to Tony?
"I don't really know. Everything's so fucked up at the moment. I thought everything was so clear, I just thought I was straight, no doubt about it, but I just don't know any more." I confessed, finding it hard to hold back tears.

"I'm so sorry Mike" Tony said, reaching out hesitantly to hold my hand to comfort me. "I know how hard this must be."

Thinking it over for a few seconds as I looked down at our connected hands, I pulled Tony close, pulling his face towards mine slowly, connecting our lips together. Again.
