Allen's POV

I drove down Stella's street in The Queens and Princess Estates, Abuja. I knew I had to apologize.

Without thinking, images of Selina's features flash through my mind, and I'm already worried for her. After I packed up for the day I went to the ward, Susan said she was, but she only left a second before I arrived. So close, Allen, so close.
I asked one of the nurses who attended to them, but she said it wasn't her but her sister who was hurt. This was after I explained to them how Selina looked like.
I really wanted to race after her to ask her if she's mentally fine, but the hospital was huge, and it was mid noon already. I didn't want to disturb or create any unnecessary tension between the both of us. I could see her eyes peering into mine whenever we met like she's nervous. I didn't want that. Or maybe that was my excuse. I actually wanted to ease the nervousness and tell her it's okay to be comfortable around people like me. A half stranger now.

I packed along the street while I walked my way to Stella's apartment.
Approaching the darkness that took the entire environment before slightly seeing the front door to her living room. I knew Stella wasn't home.
"She must have gone for an evening stroll," I say before pulling out my phone to call her.

I could remember her saying night strolls were the only method she uses to clear her mind from overthinking and stress.

"I heal my mind by strolling." she always tells me whenever I ask her where she'd been all evening

Did my disappearance after we made love stress her a lot? If it did, I want to hug her and make up for it.
I hear the background voice hit the speaker, and I quickly place the call to my ear.

"Hey Darling,"I call her, resting on her front door.

"Hey," she responds, distracted as she whispers something to someone in the background.
"Where are you? I'm at your place, honey, " I informed her, tucking a hand in my jackets pockets.

"I went to visit a friend," she says in a much calmer tone.

"I could come over? I want to see you, I missed you. " I rub my hand over my head when I felt my excitement growing.

"Oh no no no" she stutters. " it's a girl sort of thing, and besides, I won't be home until three in the morning. And I'm being considerate cause I know you have work tomorrow. "

"But.." I try to say

"I'm totally off tomorrow, so it really won't affect my  presentation tomorrow at work," she adds.

"Ohh, it's fine then. Do I know this friend?" I ask her, disappointment laced in my voice.

"Ebube's place," she slowly says.

"Ohh, Ebube? Could I say hi to her?" I smile.

She was one of Stella's good friends.

"Right now, she isn't available at the moment, but I'll give you a call as soon as she is." she laughs to a joke in the background before continuing,

"Could we talk later, Babe?"

"Sure." I pretend to be cool with it.
