Iri closed her door behind her, locking it. But as she turned around she saw Clove sitting in a chair in front of her. Iri quickly took out the knife from earlier until she saw who it was and put it down.
"I could've killed you." Iri said.
"But you didn't... you hesitated. That'll get you killed." Clove said, throwing a knife at Iri's head.
As the knife inched away from her head, Iri caught it, handle in her hand. She looked at the knife and then put it on a desk.
"And you being predictable will get you killed." Iri said.
She walked over and sat by Clove, putting her arm over her shoulder.
"When the time comes, and it's down to you and whoever else to win. Don't hesitate to win." Iri replied.
Clove's gaze softened, confused.
"You don't plan on making it out alive?" Clove asked.
Iri smiled, she kissed the top of Clove's head.
"I survived once... our family needs you, not me. They look to you, win for them, live the life of a Victor when you leave and find peace, without me." Iri explained.
"What? No. No I won't do that! You're my sister! And even if mom or dad despise you, I don't. I need you. And if you can't live for yourself than live for me. Sometimes you forget your a Victor and you shouldn't be here now, it's unfair to you. But please, don't give up, keep going, keep on living for me." Clove explained.
Clove hugged Iri as a tear fell down her cheek. Iri wiped it away and smiled.
"Okay... but no crying, alright? Go on now, training tomorrow, and we both need sleep." Iri said.
Clove got up, lifting the covers and as she's about to get in bed, she stops. She looks at Iri with a small smile.
"As long she doesn't mind... could my big sister sleep with me, just for tonight?" Clove asked Iri.
"Yeah, yeah she can." Iri smiled, walking over to the bed.
They both got in and Iri tucked Clove in. She knew Clove was old enough to do it herself but she cherished these little moments, and she wanted them to last forever... even though she knew they wouldn't.

Training started early the next morning. Everyone was off doing their own thing but Iri made her way over to Peeta who was just watching Katniss shoot. Iri noticed this huge metal ball by the side of a wall. She knew that was Peeta's ticket in.
"Hey, Peeta." Iri said.
"Iri! What're you doing over here?" Peeta asked.
"I go where I want as I please. Besides, I came to help you out." Iri answered.
"What? How?" Peeta asked.
"Do you see that metal thing over there on the wall?"
"Yeah,"
"I want you to throw it... to the opposite side, and hit those spears."
"What? No. Haymitch says we're not supposed to show our skills."
"As much as I respect Haymitch as a Victor, I don't really give a damn what he said. Those guys are looking at you like you're a meal. Throw it." Iri said.
Peeta nodded, he grabbed the metal ball and threw to the opposite side, hitting the spears... just like how Iri told him to. The Careers stood for a second shocked, no longer looking to him as a meal, more like a threat. Not so much by the fact of what Peeta did, but what Iri told him to do. By Iri telling him what to do and him doing it, knocking over a rack of spears, it showed how much of a threat Iri was to them. Iri was a Victor before she became a Tribute to the 74th Hunger Games. That meant she knew what to expect while the other Tributes didn't.
Not long after, Iri made her way over to the makeup and paint and a fake tree to work on her camouflage. Katniss walked over to see Iri making her arm look like the tree.
"Hey," Katniss said.
"Hi," Iri answered.
"How did you do that?"
"I uh... I used to do a lot of makeup on my sister, from that I learned how to make it look realistic. I'll show you."
Iri walked over to the fake tree, Katniss following her, and Iri put her arm up to the tree, it amost completely blending into it.
"See?"
"Wow. You'll have to teach me how to do that."
"I will."
They smiled at each other but then parted ways not long after. Iri met Clove, Enobaria, and Atala in her room, going over what they need to do for evaluation.
"Tomorrow, they'll bring you in one by one. They'll evaluate you. This is important because high ratings will mean Sponsors. This is the time to show them everything. Both of you use the daggers and Iri also use the paint to help you show your camouflage skills. They'll start with District 1 which means Clove, you'll go after Cato. As for you, Iri, since you're an extra Tribute, they will have you go last, after Ms. Everdeen from District 12. Make sure they remember you." Enobaria explained.

The next day, Iri waited several minutes, turning into hours. Each Tribute went one by one, leaving one after the other. Clove left but before she did, she hugged Iri, telling her "don't hold back" as for when it comes to the evaluation. One by one... they finished. Sooner, rather than later, Peeta was up. Once Peeta left to have his evaluation done, Katniss moved over to sit beside Iri. She stared straight at the door ahead, Iri turned for a moment, smiling, and then turned back to look at the door once more.
"Are you nervous?" Iri asked.
"I-I don't know." Katniss answered.
"When I was 8, my father told me "you know... one day... you're going to shock the world". I used to think he was lying to make me feel better after my mom shut me out... but part of me still hopes that he was telling me some sort of truth. Though I didn't kn-I still don't know how."
"You will... one day....I know you will."
Katniss put her hand on hers. Some part of Iri's heart dropped, what was she doing? What was Katniss doing? She didn't know but it scared her. She moved her hand away from Iri's, putting her hand on her lap.
"What? What's wrong?" Katniss asked.
"Stop."
"Stop what?"
"This! I-I can't."
"Can't do what?"
"Just please, for the sake of yourself and your well-being, don't love me. Everyone who has ever loved me has died."
Katniss sat shocked at what Iri had said. The room went silent and only a few moments after was Katniss' name called for evaluation. She stood up slowly, keeping her eyes on Iri.
"Well- uh... wish me luck." Katniss laughed, trying to defuse the tension before she left.
After the door shut, a few tears fell down her cheeks. She wasn't wrong but she also regretted what she had said. Iri lost her mother to a Peacekeeper massacre after everyone thought she died during the 73rd Hunger Games. Now Peacekeepers stay in District 2, standing guard to make sure another massacre doesn't happen. Her mother was an asshole to her, a horrible person to her even, but she was her mother. And even if she wasn't a bad mother she was her mother at the end of the day, the person who gave her life, her blood and bones. And she was gone. Iri lost her best friend Kensli when she was 10, she lost Reena when she was 16.
