Hours went by in utter silence, the girl from District 8 was under them, making a fire for herself to keep warm, but she didn't see them so all was good. The night carried on, an honorary presentation of the fallen Tributes was shown as Iri hummed an old District song to herself quiety. The sun slowly rose and Iri could see just how beautiful it was, for the moment. But the moment was shortly lived when suddenly she  heard cracking branches getting a bit louder the closer the "unknown" got. This woke Katniss up who was also unsure of the noise. The noise wasn't from the District 8 girl though, as she was asleep.

"Stay low, I'll look out," Iri said to Katniss, grabbing two daggers.

She got low on the branch, to the point she may have been hugging it, and watched for where the sound was coming from. That's when she saw Marvel, Glimmer, Cato, Clove (she was alive which was a relief to her)... and Peeta. She was confused but maybe her plan during training had worked and he had found himself an alliance, for now at least. She watched as Peeta and the "Career pack" killed the female Tribute from District 8, who had been trying to warm herself by a fire. The girl had pleaded but they were Careers, no amount of pleading would stop them from getting closer to victory, Iri would know, she was a Career after all.

"Hey, loverboy! You sure Katniss and Iri went this way?" Cato asked.
Iri became angry and began to point the dagger at Peeta from above. She was about to throw it when Katniss stopped her, grabbing her hand, shaking her head. Iri looked at her, into her eyes, her angry face softened as she looked at Katniss. Moving the dagger away and letting out a quiet sigh.
"Yeah, I'm sure," Peeta answered Cato.
"You better be," Cato replied.

Katniss and Iri watched as Peeta walked ahead of the Careers but they hesitated to follow him.
"Are you sure we shouldn't just kill him now?" Glimmer asked.
"Nah, he's our best chance at finding that archer-"
"And my sister. Wherever Katniss is, Iri will be with her. They've made an alliance among other things. We find 12, we find her," Clove said, almost sincerely.

The Careers then followed Peeta until they were out of Iri and Katniss' sight.
"Cmon, we should get down, find some water. We'll be dehydrated soon enough, so we'll need to find some soon," Iri said, trying to avoid the obvious conversation Katniss wanted to have about what had just happened.
"Good idea," Katniss answered.

The untied themselves and both got down from the tree. Iri groaned quietly in pain as she climbed down. That's when Katniss could see the blood slowly appearing through the cloth on her arm. Once they were both down, Iri began to walk ahead when Katniss grabbed her hand and pulled her back over to her, kissing her. Iri was highly confused and pulled away after a few moments.
"What was that for?" Iri asked.
"As an apology for last night. I shouldn't have lashed out on you, you were only trying to protect me."
"Well, considered your apology accepted and you are forgiven. But I should also be apologizing to you. I shouldn't have overreacted, of course you didn't know if you could trust me, I'm a killer-"
"You're only a killer because Snow made you one. You deserved to live a normal life, we all do, but this is how we survive now, right?"
"But maybe... life should be about more than just surviving."
Katnss smiled as she kissed her again, Iri kissing her back. They both stopped after a moment and touched foreheads together.
"Ready to go look for water?" Iri asked.
"Yeah, just uh... wait one more minute-"
"If we wait another minute to kiss I might lose my mind," Iri laughed.
"I wish but-"
Katniss looked at Iri's arm as the red covered the entirety of her arm, that's when Iri finally looked down.
"Oh yeah, that thing-" Iri began to say as she collapsed on to her knees.
"Iri!" Katniss yelled running right her side and kneeling down.

"Looks like our Girl on Ice might be melting... I wonder if the fire might finally be catching up to her." Caesar told to people.

Katniss took the cloth off her arm to see an 8 inch laceration about ½ of an inch deep, the blood spilling out quickly.
"Oh my god," Katniss, starting to freak out.
"It's uh... worse than I thought, huh?" Iri laughed quietly.

Katniss tried to look around for something when she finally saw some cloth on the ground by the tree they just came from. Both pieces of cloth covered in blood.

"How many times did you change it out while I was sleeping?" Katniss asked her, putting pressure on the wound.
"Mmm... Three times-"
"Three? Oh god."
"It's okay, it's fine." Iri said quietly, her breath more heavy, the blood continuing to spill out of her arm.
"Haymitch. Enobaria. If you're hearing me, now would be a great time to get something like a needle and thread out here. To save her fucking life." Katniss pleaded to herself.

It had been hours that Iri had been bleeding out, it was only a matter of time before she lost enough blood to lose consciousness.
"Katniss, listen to me,"
"Iri, stop talking please-"
"No, Katniss, listen to me. It's only a matter of time before I fall unconscious, I've been here before with my leg. And after that it won't be long until I die. I've been bleeding long enough-"
"No, no, I'm not accepting that. I just need to keep pressure and eventually the Sponsors will bring us something to close your cut, alright? You're fine!"
"Katniss!"
"What?!"

Iri leaned in and kissed Katniss. Katniss kissed her back and then Iri moved away and leaned her head against the tree. Iri closed her eyes and Katniss' heart dropped.

"No. No, no, no, no, no. Iri wake the hell up!" Katniss cried.

Iri opened her eyes slightly, her breath was shallow as she continued to bleed out. That's when Katniss heard this alarm peering closer and closer. It was a drone, from a Sponsor.

"Hey, hey. You hear that? Someone's sending help, for you." Katniss whispered.

Iri's head started to lean to the side as Katniss moved her hand over, moving Iri's head back to face her.

"When you told me that you were falling in love with me... I didn't say anything back because I was scared... I was scared because I was falling for you," Katniss said, tears falling from her face.
"Really?" Iri asked quietly, smiling with her eyes slightly open.
"Why would I tell you if it wasn't true. So, open your eyes and bare with me, because you're not fucking dying, not now, not anytime soon. Deal?"
"Deal,"
The drone sat down right by Katniss as she quickly opened it. A note on the inside:

Save your Yellowjacket.
                                  - H

She put the note in her jacket pocket and opened the container up, a needle and thread. Perfect. Katniss took the needle and thread and began to close Iri's wound. Once the wound was fully closed. Katniss looked inside of the container and found a bottle of water. She opened it and moved it close to Iri but Iri moved the bottle away.

"I'll be fine, drink the water-"
"Iri Kentwell, I swear to fucking god if you don't take a drink of the fucking water I will fucking kill you myself!"
"Yes ma'am," Iri said as Katniss moved the bottle up to her mouth, Iri opened her mouth as Katniss helped Iri drink the water.

After the water was about halfway done she stopped and pushed the bottle to Katniss' chest.
"Iri-"
"No, now you get to listen to me. You're gonna drink this water because you need it just as much as I do, or else I will make sure you regret it, got it?"
"Fine,"

Katniss drank the rest of the water as Iri got up. Katniss got up after her and punched Iri on the shoulder.
"Um, ow... what the hell was that for?" Iri asked.
"For almost dying on me,"
"Oh, wow, like that was my ch-"
Then Katniss kissed her and then moved away, grabbing their supplies from off the ground and shoving them into the backpack.
"And that was for everything else," Katniss said.

Iri smiled to the ground as Katniss got up and put the backpack on her back.
"Let's go look for some water now, from the tree it looked like there may have been some a bit north from here; we get there, purify the water, and then we should be good for a few days." Iri explained.
"I'll follow you, you've got the daggers?"
Iri moved her jacket to the side, showing her 5 daggers inside and then pointed to 2 on each of her legs.
"Course I do,"
"Then let's get a move on before it's dark,"
