VALAERIE

Chapter 9

Valaerie and Alyssa turned to the scream and run toward it. They found Daella on the side crying, Alyssa rushes towards her.

"What are you doing out here?" Alyssa asked. Daela continues to cry and Valaerie looks around to see Princess Saera running away.

Valaerie sighed.

Alyssa manages to calm the girl while soothing her that everything is alright. "Saera told me she found something here but she left me alone," Daella said.

" Sometimes you have to know how to defend yourself, Daella" Alyssa hissed at her sister, she's just worried about her.

Valaerie sighed Before walking towards the child." Come, Darling." Valaerie said and slowly carry the small child, Daella flinch for a bit but she settle in Valaerie's gentle arms.

Alyssa was surprised to see that. Daella is afraid of almost everyone."I heard you're scared of gardens" Valaerie said and Daella nodded.

" She's scared of insects," Alyssa informed and Valaerie nodded.

" I'll show you Aegon's Garden. Don't worry I will carry you along the way. " Valaerie stated and walk towards the Garden while Alyssa walk with her.

The three arrive at Aegon's Garden, Alyssa was surprised to see the beautiful place. Valaerie had been taking care of the flowers and the plants so that it becomes beautiful even though the small pond on the corner has some fish on it.

Daella snuggles herself into Valaerie chest avoiding everything. Valaerie pointed to the field of flowers where butterflies are flying around.

"Look... They're harmless." Valaerie said pointing at the butterflies. Daella look up to see the beautiful place. Valaerie put the child on the swing who almost fall because she thought Valaerie let go of her.

"Is this a swing!? We don't have any of these in Kingslanding." Alyssa said and sitting on the neck swing on the side.

Valaerie smiles and crouches in front of Daella. "It's fine, Darling. You are safe." Valaerie said.

Daella looks around and manages to breathe she smiles. "It's beautiful here but what if there's a bee?" The child asked

"Then well scare it away. We will show them that this is our home and not theirs. Listen, it's okay to be afraid of things because it's normal but you have to face most of those things because one day you will have someone you will want to protect." Valaerie said to take both of Daella's hands, she close them together.

"I'm not brave like Alyssa," Daella said and Valaerie smiles.

"You don't have to but you need to be tough. Just think of the people you want to protect and by that, you will be brave and strong." Valaerie said before opening their hands and a blue butterfly came out of it.

Alyssa and Daella were surprised to see the blue butterfly. Daella's eyes dilated seeing the butterfly, she smiles watching it fly around.

"Here" Valaerie take out the sea shell that they pick on the shore when Jocelyn and Aemon were there. She gave it to Daella. "Whenever you are afraid or scared just place this on your ear and you will be at peace," Valaerie said.

Daella did what the girl said and she could hear some music inside, it's majestic and calming.

"Thank you," Daella said and Valaerie smiles.

Valaerie was pushing the swing Daella and Alyssa were just on the other swing laughing. When Ser Gyles came looking for them.

"The King is looking for his daughters," the man said and Valaerie nodded, carrying Daella while Alyssa walks with her.
