In the morning the rooster woke me up Elle said "good mornin' " she was already dressed in a spaghetti strap yellow sundress that came down to about her knees and her hair cascaded over her shoulders in honey colored curls I blushed "good morning" Elle helped me down the stairs the day flew by we helped pick the corn for dinner and played games with the rest of Elle's family then I hung out with Isaac Elle's older brother in his room I looked out the window seeing Elle picking flowers with Belle, Luke, and James Elle's hair was blowing in the gentle breeze Isaac smiled "you really like her don't you?" I blushed embarrassed "yeah" I said still looking out the window Isaac smiled "well you have the brother stamp of approval" then Isaac told me that Elle's birthday was two days from now on the day before we leave to go back to New York to the superhero high school and how the whole family was going to throw a surprise party hoedown for Elle I tried to think of something that would be the best present I could get her then I saw the acoustic guitar and fiddle in his room I would write her a song or at least sing her a song and I could do it at the Hoedown then we ate and Elle said "do you want to watch the sunset and see the fireflies?" My heart skipped a beat at Elle's question "yeah!" I say excited

Elle smiles and helps me up and placed a steadying arm around my waist and I put my arm around her shoulder Elle helped me on to the soft grass at the top of a hill and we watched as the sunset behind the mountains then the fireflies lit up to sky I Elle leans her head against my shoulder I feel my cheeks flush I looked down at Elle in the dim light her golden eyes sparkled reflecting the light of the fireflies rolling hills of the fields I imagined us watching the fireflies and me finally getting up the courage to tell Elle how much I cared for her then sharing a magical kiss while the fireflies lit up the sky I get up the courage and reach out and stoked through Elle's soft hair Elle's freckled face turned pick as she blushed I pulled Elle closer letting her lean her head on my chest later when it was nearly pitch black Elle and I layed down in the soft grass and Elle pointed to the constellations and the stars explaining the story behind each one I smiled amazed at how much Elle knew about the night sky it was time to go back to the farmhouse so Elle helped me up I winced felling a spark jolt of pain shoot up my bad arm but I tried to hide it from Elle the old bandages that the doctor put on didn't offer alot of support Elle saw my discomfort and said "when we get back I'll change your bandages" "thanks" I said Elle helped me on to the couch I watched Belle, Luke, and James playing sorry the boardgame Elle came back with some medical supplies and knelt in front of me I gritted my teeth and closed my eyes trying not to cry in pain as Elle took the old bandages off my arm I heard
Elle gasp "oh Kiri..." just said quietly the cracks had gotten worse they had spread all the way to my to my elbow and they were deep I was so busy trying not to cry that when had finished I looked down my arm was wrapped in a cast like bandage that was red my favorite color Elle said "one more finishing touch" Elle signed it with a marker followed by the rest of her family then Belle came running down the hall and held up a sticker book and said "let's make KiKi's hutt arm beautiful!" Belle, Luke, and James set to work decorating my arm I smiled it was almost like having little siblings of my own.
