Jang Wonyoung

Just like most nights, it's either I can't sleep or I wake up at dawn. Dreams of my parents kept on bothering me, and I can't get away with it.

"Am I really guilty?"

I was just staring at my window, when someone knocked.

"Ate?" She stepped in.

"Hyunseo, what is it?"

"Hindi ka makatulog?"

"Not really, but why are you still awake?" I sat up and asked.

"I can't sleep..." she answered with a frown.

"Can I sleep beside you?" She asked.

"My bed's not really that big enough-"

"Please, ate?"

"Alright, fine."

I lay in silence with Hyunseo by my side, and my thoughts were still killing me inside. I felt so lost, when I felt like someone embraced me.

"It will never be your fault, ate." Hyunseo whispered.

"Did you know what happened?" I asked.

"Maybe yes, maybe no. Pero wala kang kasalanan." She replied, and my tears started flowing again.

"It's been years, pero hindi ko sasabihin na kalimutan mo 'yon." She added.

"But what I want is to forget everything about it."

"Take it slow, we'll always be here for you."

Her words were warm, and it was my first time hearing it. She did not remove her arms around me, and sooner I fell asleep.

This day I woke up, but without her by my side. She left early, I guess?

I went on with my usual morning routine, and that includes questioning the importance of my life. As I arrived at school, I was surprised to see a lot of people staring at me.

I know it's been there since my first day, but their stares are a lot more intense now.

In fact, most of them are boys.

"Don't just stand there, you're screwed up right now." Yujin whispered from behind.

I slowly turned to her and walked with her and Liz approached us.

"As time passes by, mas lumalala." She told Yujin.

"This is bad." She replied.

"Kanina ko pa nirereport mga nakikita ko. Sinabihan ko na rin si Aoi." Liz said once again while being busy on her phone.

"Good. Parating na si Autumn."

"What's happening?" I asked.

"Are you that clueless?"

"Just answer my question, Yujin."

"Don't you have a social media account?"

"I do, but I don't use it."

"Then, open it."

Autumn came in such a hurry, and we sat down where students don't often stand by, so I checked my phone.

I was terrified.

I was terrified that I accidentally let go of my phone, causing it to fall to the ground.

I'm shaking that I don't even know what to do. I can't even think of what to say. I don't even know what to feel. All I know is that I'm crying in the inside.

I feel so week, but I can't let something false ruin my life again. The more I let this grow in me, the more it will take over me.

I went on with my day. For this intense and rough looks from my schoolmates, I'd say I'm doing well ignoring them, but I don't expect that even professors would question me about what they saw.

"Ms. Jang can we talk later?" One of my professors asked and I just nodded.

All my classes ended as if time was slow, but I prepared myself to see my professor and for my impulsive decision.

"You came on time, Ms. Jang."

"What is it about, prof?"

"I don't know how to tell you this, but-"

"If it's about the issue circulating around, it will end even before this day ends."

"But Ms. Jang, even so, the university is on fire because of this."

"I don't see any flames yet. Do you want me to put one ba?" I answered in a sarcastic way.

"No time for jokes, Jang Wonyoung." I raised my brows.

"I wasn't joking though."

"It's better if you lay low. For the university and for you."

"Well I don't care about myself. My image's already ruined to begin with."

"You're taking this the wrong way."

"Whatever, I don't have time for this."

"Jang Wonyoung-"

"See you tomorrow." I waved while walking my way out.

I guess hilig talaga ng mga tao ang makisawsaw sa buhay ng iba. They don't look like they care.

I rushed to exit the gate, not noticing Yujin and her friends calling me up. All I care is getting things done, and I don't care who I'm going to mess with.

I'm already a mess to begin with.

I rode a trike to get to the address, and it was awfully pricey. This inflation is nasty. Going back, it was already dark in the evening, but I don't have any guts to hold back.

I reached the exact place, and it's somehow quiet here. People are nowhere to be found and windows of houses are shut. All I can see is high old arc and walls.

"I did not fully expect to see you here." A deep voice welcomed me.

"It's you again." I replied.
