Percy's Secret

I love swimming- not this time

Percy's pov:

"Hey seaweed brain! Hazel and Frank are here and we're going to the lake, wanna come?" My girlfriend, Annabeth Chase, asked me. "Sure I'll be there in 5." I responded. She left my cabin. I put on my long sleeved bathing suit and trunks, then I left my cabin.

I got to the beach and I saw the 6 in the water. I went in with them. "Yo water boy whats up" Leo asked, "Nothing much." I responded. I noticed Annabeth was talking with Piper. "Everybody come here," Piper asked and we left the glistening clear water.

"So what are we doing now?" Jason asked his girlfriend, Piper Mclean. "We are going to play volleyball, you all are required to." Annabeth said with a smirk and we all agreed. We were in two teams, Me ,Annabeth ,Jason, and Piper on one team, and Leo with Hazel, and Frank on the other. Leo through the ball and I caught it. Without noticing, my shirt went up a bit, revealing scars from when Gabe abused me in my childhood, they never went away.

Leo noticed it though, and he froze. "What are you doing, Fire Guy!" Frank yelled at Leo. Leo was still in shock, then I realized he saw my scars and I panicked a bit. Annabeth,Piper,Jason,Hazel, and Frank all shared a look saying, what just happened? But me and Leo stared at each other, he was shocked and i was panicking, he can't know, nobody can. They would probably call me a freak. When I thought that, a memory came to mind.

-I was talking to Grover on my mom's phone, when Smelly Gabe walked in. I didn't realize, and I was venting to my friend on how he abused me. Smelly Gabe got mad and took the phone, and smashed it to pieces. Oh no I thought as I saw anger in his eyes. "What the f-ck do you think your doing you little punk!" Gabe yelled, I didn't respond and just whimpered. He starting beating me with his belt. He took off my shirt and grabbed a knife, he started cutting my torso. I yelled but my mom wasn't home. He left the room while saying, "Don't tell anyone, you freak." I cleaned the blood from my chest and the floor.-

I snapped back into reality and everyone was staring at me. "PERCY!!!" I heard Annabeth yell. "Sorry I was. . . Thinking about something." I said. Annabeth patted my shoulder which made me flinch. "Guys I'm going to talk to Percy, just for a second" Leo said, then I got scared. He dragged me behind a tree and carefully lifted my shirt, and he saw my scars. He looked up at me, his eyes filling with tears.

"Percy- how? What happened to you?" Leo asked, I knew I couldn't tell him the truth. He would definitely make fun of me. "Just, monster scratches." I respond, hoping he'll believe it. He stared at me dead in the eye, "Tell me the truth Percy, I'm not very smart, but I'm not dumb." Leo commands. I looked down and didn't respond. I don't want to talk about my trauma to anyone, I won't.

Leo, still very confused is silent for a while. Then, he gave me a warm embrace. "Percy, no matter what it is I'm worried, please tell me, I won't make fun of you I swear on the River Styx." He said, I noticed he had concern in his eyes. I looked down and said, "My old step-father, he used to a-abuse me..." I said, feeling tears start in my eyes. Leo is shocked."Oh my gods Perce, I'm so sorry, I never knew..." He says. "Let's get back to the group now." I say and he hugs me again, and we walk to the group.

"What took you guys so long?" Piper asks jokingly. "Nothing..." Leo says. No everyone is concerned, Leo is never serious unless something is wrong. "Are you okay Leo?" Hazel asks, and Leo stays silent then replies, "Fine. I-I'm fine." Then he looked at me with pity in his eyes, I can tell he felt sad about what happened to me. Oh gods, he probably hates me now.

"Percy what happened to Leo?" Jason asks me, since I was with Leo. "Nothing." I day a bit quickly. "Something happened, let's go to cabin 3 and talk about it." Annabeth suggests, nobody says no to Annabeth, so we follow her into my cabin. "Now, Leo or Percy, tell us what happened." Leo looks at me, I don't think he wants to say without my permission, but I can't have them knowing. I don't want to, but now we have to say something and we don't know what to do.
