My eyes slowly fluttered open, my eyes met with the popcorn covered ceiling above me. I felt something warm effortlessly grounding my body, I looked down and saw the bedroom that I was in.I sat up quickly, my eyes shifting around the room quickly, I saw Billy walk into the bedroom. My gaze softened. "What am I doing here?" I managed to say.
"I found you at the lake, right by the cliff. You were freezing cold, so I warmed you up." Billy said, the explains the sweat slowly running down my forehead. "Why didn't you save me?" I asked. "Why didn't you visit me in the hospital?" I asked. My mind overflowed with confusion and sadness.
"I wanted to save you, but the police and the ambulance were already there. I couldn't go back to jail, and you were already saved by them. I couldn't bare to see you because I couldn't handle the fact that I almost got you killed." Billy spoke, he sat next to me in the bed, his warm hand touching mine.
"Why did you do that? Why did you go to the cliff? You knew you could've died, Taylor." He asked in a subtle manner.
"I don't know."
"You're lying, you do know. Don't lie to me." He said.
"Where are we?" I ignored what he said and changed the subject. He sighed, "when me and Stu were leaving, I decided to go out of town and to my moms." He said making my face turn white.
"O-out of town, how far are we from Woodsboro?" I asked. "Only like 15 minutes," he smiled reassuringly.
"Where's Stu?" I asked.
"He went back to the psych ward." Billy told me softly.
My eyes traveled down, my head slowly fell as air drifted out of my lungs. Billy held his hand to my cheek lightly. "God, I've missed you. I couldn't sleep or eat without you." His voice broke making my heart shatter. Billy slowly leaned in and kissed me, a slow nice sensation shot through my bottom lip. He slowly pulled away and smiled at me lovingly.
"Uhm....." I said quietly as I slowly pulled my hand away from him. "You should probably take me home, I don't want my dad to get made at me, Billy." I told him nervously, wondering what he'd say. "Oh, yeah. Of course." He said, taking my hand lightly and bringing me downstairs.
He brought me outside to his car, he slowly opened the door for me, I looked around, it was pitch black outside, and it was freezing, I felt warm cotton around my arms taking my attention away from his silhouette. I had on Billy's clothes, I was wearing sweatpants and a black hoodie. "D-Did you change me?" I asked shyly. He looked at the road with a soft grin as he started to drive.
"Yeah, I hope it doesn't bother you." He said reassuringly. I shook my head. "No, it's okay."
I pushed my knees to my chest and laid my head there for a little bit while staring out the window to the empty road. Life always felt lifeless during winter in California, since it doesn't snow in Woodsboro the colorful leaves from fall will slowly die and fall to the ground, leaving the trees naked and dry, the skies gloomy and dark, making everything look dead, but it was kind of comforting.
Billy pulled up to my house and dropped me off. "What about your clothes?" I asked with a crack in my voice.
"Don't worry about it, I'll see you later?" He asked with a comforting smile.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"Taylor," Billy said, stopping me from closing the door.
"Yes?" I asked. "Please don't ever leave me again." He said, even though he left me.
I made my way into the house, I saw dad in the kitchen. "Where have you been!" He scolded me as he saw me by the door. "I-" I tried to speak before he cut me off.
"I don't care, my mom is coming over tomorrow at five for dinner, I need you to go to the store and get some food." Dad said.
"F-Food? Dad," I paused before looking at the clock, unaware of the time since I've mostly been asleep.
"It's seven pm, where do you want me to go?!" I snapped back at him. "Walmart is open until ten, go, now!" He said slamming a fifty dollar bill onto the counter.
At least he's paying for it.
"Fuck," I muttered under my breath. I grabbed the fifty dollar bill.

I put on a red fluffy sweater and grey cargo pants, my red converse matching my sweater. I put the plates down on the table as my grandma walked into the house, she had auburn hair and was dressed like a Barbie doll. She had on a black long sleeve with buttons and a long red dress. She didn't look her age, maybe in her forty's, but she's sixty three.
She walked over to me with a smile on her face and open arms. "Look at how gorgeous you've gotten." She greeted me, pulling me into a hug. I hugged her back, taking in her vanilla scent. "Wow, this food looks so good, did you cook it darling?" She asked me, looking at the steak and mashed potatoes on the plates. "Yeah, I did." I giggled.
"You must be a good cook, I can taste it already." She smiled, taking a seat at the table. I poked the mashed potatoes while her and dad spoke.
"Hunny, just tell her why I'm here already." Grandma told my dad, taking my attention away from the mashed potatoes. "What?" I asked my dad.
Dad looked at me with sadness, surprisingly he hasn't looked at me like this in awhile.
"Well," dad spoke softly. "Hunny, you're coming to live with me." My grandma spoke for him making me choke on the mashed potatoes and drop my fork. "W-What?" I asked. I stood up from my chair quickly.
"You're throwing me away?!" I shouted at dad. I pushed my chair in and stomped upstairs. I grabbed my suitcase with anger in my eyes as I started to pack all of my stuff.
A gentle knock was placed on my door. "Come in." I said in a shaky voice. My grandma slowly opened the door and closed it. "Listen, I know that you're dad is an asshole. I used to talk crap about him all the time to my husband before he passed. I know he's my son, but he is an awful, awful man." She told me reassuringly.
"So, I can't let him hurt you anymore then he already has, Taylor." She said.
What about billy?
"I'm sorry, I'm sure you have many friends that you'll miss but I can't let that man hurt you."
"Can I be alone?" I asked her quietly.
"Yes, of course."
