Y/N had never felt more comfortable in her life. As of today, she had been the BAU's Probationary Agent for 4 days. She and the team had returned from their latest case. In between paperwork for the BAU and meetings with the team, Y/N had been attending her classes for the training program, keeping up with her college classes, and keeping up with her class work for Spencer. She'd often sit in the conference room with Spencer while the team focused on paperwork.

She'd be lying if she told herself that spending so much time with Spencer only made her feelings for him deeper, and clearly, he felt the same way. He often caught himself looking at her for extended periods of time while she sat next to him, her eyes focused on her writing.

Y/N returned from the training building after picking up one of her folders. She entered the main building and walked down the hall, making her way to the elevator so she could head up to the 6th floor.

As she walked, she saw another man coming from the opposite direction. The moment he got closer, she instantly recognised him.

"Cadet Y/L/N. I'd like to say that it's a pleasure seeing you, but I'd be lying." He scoffed.

"Cadet Jackson. How...interesting to see you in the main building." Y/N tried to remain calm.

"Yes, I'm here. You know, my hope was that maybe I'd be placed with the BAU as their Probationary Agent, but when you suddenly disappeared from classes and I was asked to be the Counterintelligence division's Probationary Agent, I figured that you had snatched the job away from me." He rolled his eyes. She had almost forgotten that he existed, but she reminded herself that she shared most of her classes and physical training with him.

"You do know that us cadets don't get a choice in who we work with as Probationary Agents, right? It's the heads of the divisions and units that choose, and even then, lots of cadets don't get chosen. So, maybe you shouldn't be too sour about not getting assigned to the BAU, and try being appreciative of even being chosen." She reminded him.

"I don't need you telling me what I should be appreciating! I'm the best cadet that the FBI has ever seen. My skills and knowledge would be perfect for the BAU, and the fact that you think you can just swoop in and steal it from me is hilarious. If I were you, I'd go up to Erin Strauss and Aaron Hotchner and request a transfer to a different division. I've done my research on you, Y/L/N. I know for a FACT that you wouldn't suit the BAU." He growled at her.

"It's not my fault that Agent Strauss chose me and not you! If you have a problem with her choices, then take it up with her. I'm not stopping you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend." Y/N exhaled.

"Listen to me, and listen closely. I have connections within the FBI. If I wanted to, I could find out every dirty thing you've done, every skeleton in your closet, every mistake you've made. And, if you're not careful, that information could ruin your career within the FBI before it even starts. So, by the time I graduate from the training program, if I am unable to join the BAU because you joined, I will ruin you. You will never be able to set foot inside the FBI main building again." He glared at her. She wasn't going to let him affect her.

He was clearly bluffing. He didn't have any connections and there was no way for him to find her dirty secrets, if she even had any for him to find. He was just trying to scare her into giving up a chance at being part of the BAU.

"Is that a threat, Cadet Jackson?" Y/N asked, seeing him chuckle.

"No. It's just a strong suggestion." He lied, trying to prevent any nearby Agents from hearing him.

"Remember what I said the day of our PFT." He spoke. Y/N looked at him in confusion.

"Clearly you've forgotten. I'm not surprised." He scoffed, almost chuckling.

"I wouldn't aim for a division like the BAU. That's a very difficult and elite division to get accepted into. You'd have to be a genius to be accepted into that team." He reminded her.

Y/N didn't need this. She didn't need to listen to Cadet Jackson threaten her career. She knew she deserved to be the Probationary Agent for the BAU.

She got to the elevator and angrily waited for it to open for her. Once she got inside and pressed the right button she exhaled, trying to remain calm.

How dare he threaten her?

She groaned, stopping when the elevator doors opened. She hurriedly walked toward the BAU bullpen, almost bumping into Spencer.

"I'm so sorry, Dr. Reid." She exhaled, taking a few deep breaths in and out.

"Y/N, are you okay? You look a bit upset." He frowned.

"Just another cadet giving me a hard time. Nothing I can't handle." She smiled.

"What's the other cadet doing?" He asked, worried.

For the next 5 minutes, she explained her conversations with Cadet Jackson, her and Spencer standing in an empty office.

"And he threatened you earlier?" Spencer asked.

"Literally just before I got into the elevator." She chuckled.

"Well...I can look out for him, make sure he understands the severity of threatening another cadet." Spencer smiled.

"You don't have to do that, Spencer. I can handle him." Y/N shook her head.

"I know that I don't have to, but I want to." Spencer smiled, holding her hand. They were so close. Only inches of air separated them. Spencer looked down at Y/N, staring at her beautiful eyes, while she looked up at Spencer, admiring his sweet smile.

"You're the best, Spencer. Thank you." She smiled, realising that they were standing in an empty office. She created more distance between them, blushing.

He kept smiling. If he and Y/N hadn't been standing in an empty office, maybe he could have kissed her. It didn't have to be anything huge, maybe a small peck, but he wanted to. He had spent so much time with her, the that between working on her papers, he and Y/N had gotten to know each other better, and had even considered each other to be friends. Being around her was great, but it was hard, knowing that he wanted to take their friendship and turn it into something more. What he didn't know, was that she wanted the same thing.
