Her Desperate Heart

chapter three.

She had such a terrible day yesterday, for several hours and she was exhausted. She talked to different clients, she attended a wedding with her friends. She couldn't wait to go on a date with Nick. She had rush to her shop, she had some dresses, she had to deliver. She would have sent Daisy but Daisy was going to see her parents. And she didn't really want to disturb her other staffs. She wore a long frayed blue jeans, with a tight brown cropped top. She wore her white converse, she tied her hair up.
She prepared her coffee, black. She drank it as she walked out of her apartment. She wasn't as rich as her brothers or even Irene's husband, Ethan, but her apartment was quite luxurious. She got to the elevator, she greeted the receptionist as she walked to her car. She got in and drove to the shop.
She saw two people at her door looking harmless, she asked, “ you need something? "
“ yes, I need a dress for my daughter here" the woman said gesturing to her daughter who was about sixteen or seventeen years. She didn't just own just a bridal shop, she also had other types of outfits including a pron dress.
“ Hi, I'm Loretta but my friends call me Lori. I have seen you on different magazines. I'm a big fan of yours and i also want to wear a dress by you " the girl said.
“ Thanks, Lori" she smiled at the girl. She was once like her. After watching countless marathon of Say Yes To The Dress, she knew that she wanted to have a shop that sold different outfits. She opened the shop and asked them to come in. She took Lori and her mum towards where the dresses for prom was located.
Lori searched for dresses, while she packed up. She finally decided a dress, it was a handless red gown. It looked really beautiful on her.
“ How much is it?" Lori's mum asked. Iris collected the dress and checked the price tag.
“ $1500" she replied.
“ Hell" Lori's mum cursed.
“ i can reduce the price since Lori here is my friend. You can pay $1000 for it" Iris said.
“ a little bit out of my budget but i can pay. Lori's my only child. I got to do everything for her " Lori's mum said and passed her credit card. She swiped, packed up the dress and gave it to them. She also took a selfie with Lori.
She picked up the dress she was going to deliver, she bumped into something, she almost fell down but the person caught her. “ I'm so sorry " she heard the person say. She dropped the dresses down and was shocked to see Nick standing right there.
“ N-Nick" she stuttered.
“ Iris " he said with a smile.
“ What are you doing here? " she asked crossing and uncrossing it.
“ i was passing by, when i saw you walk towards this direction, i wasn't sure it was you but i had to find out " he said.
“ oh okay, i was going to deliver this dresses " she said pointing at the dresses.
“ I can drop you there" he said.
“ You dont have to " she said even though she was imagining herself in his car.
“ please, i insist" he added and she nodded.
He helped her to pick the dresses. She picked up her bag and phone as she closed the shop.
After delivering six dresses to four different address, she sat in Nick's car. She had a lot of fun talking to him. “ i need to be somewhere, i dont mind dropping you at home " he said.
“ please, the shop will be better " she said and he talked to the driver. They got to her shop, she smiled at him. “ thanks for the ride"
“ never mind " she wanted to ask if their date was still on but he read her mind“ Seven?"
“ fine. Bye" she said.
“ wait" he called out. She turned to look at him and his lips met hers just for a second like it never happened but she still felt his lips on hers.
She was still looking for what to wear, today was a sunday and she knew her friends would be busy. She was a designer but still she couldn't find the perfect dress to wear. She did a very light make up as she didn't really like make up. She left her hair down. She finally settled with a mid thigh knitted dress. She added a belt and she wore her black boots. The dress was a simple but sexy dress, she liked it. She picked up her bag and checked her phone. She got a missed call from Nick, she was scared that he was going to cancel but she still called him.
“ Hey" she said.
“ So i wanted ask where i was going to pick you up, i dont know your house address, you can send it to me "
“ Oh, okay. It's......"
“ thanks, give me five minutes "
“ see ya " she hung up.
She spent that five minutes trying to decide which bag to use.
She went downstairs to see Nick resting on his car, she wanted to thank her fairy godmother for telling her to wear casual because Nick was wearing just a shirt with jeans. He looked really good, the guy was handsome.
“ Iris" he called her.
“ Nick "
“ You look beautiful" she smiled.
“ you look even better" she told him.
“ Thanks " he said kissing her cheeks then helping her in.
“ so where are we going to? " she asked.
“ My house" he said as the car stopped.
“ wow, this is beautiful " she admired his house. It was a really big mansion. “ Thanks "
“ so you stay here anytime you are around this place " she asked as they walked inside.
“ Not really, i stay at my other house " he said.
“ oh " she said.
“ so how's your shop?" He asked.
“ Great, still trying to fix Adrien's tux " she said.
“ Okay, so do you like Adrien "
“ Of course, he is my best friend " she said.
“ i know, he said you guys had some history together " he said.
“ Yeah, i met him at a party and we dated for two months "
“ so you've got some little feelings for him?" She turned to stare at him.
“ if i did i wont be going out with you and i wouldn't be trying to get their wedding to be perfect " she said letting her anger show.
“ Really didn't mean like that "
“ i know, but Adrien's really doing me a favour by wearing my clothes and you also"
“ why?" He asked.
“ Because, you guys are superstars and at his wedding, some media personnel might be there and ask about his outfit and soon i would be known" she said.
“ i thought your brother Tristin is a superstar"
“ He is but i cant get him to wear my stuffs out "
“ why"
“ Because his manager is his wife and Olivia and i have some issues " she replied.
“ what did your brother say about it?"
“ Nothing, he doesnt care. He thinks it's just some little fight"
“ so it isn't"
“ of course, it isn't. Everyone likes my sister, Irene. She's quiet and beautiful but me just the opposite and Olivia said something about me learning to be like my sister and i got angry " she said.
“ i dont think i would want you to be like your sister "
“ thanks. When i was in high school, most guys talked to me just to get closer to Irene. I still love her though " she said. He stopped in the dining room, “ Claudia" he called out and a middle aged woman came out.
“ Nick, you are home " she said.
“ Yeah, Claudia meet Iris and Iris meet Claudia" .
“ Good day " She said.
“ Who is she? " the woman turned to Nick.
“ My friend " he said and she nodded and went back to the kitchen.
“ Sorry about Claudia, she is really a nice person but she doesnt trust people that much" he explained.
“ i get it" she said.
They had a really nice dinner, they talked about other things, business, family and stuffs.
“ it's getting late, i need to go " she said. She liked his company but she had a lot of things to do tomorrow.
He stood up and helped her up also “ i understand, it was nice being with you, i would love to do it again, what do you say?"
“ Sure, just let me know " she said picking up her bag.
When they got to her house she sighed, “ Do you wanna come inside?" She asked.
“ i would love to " he said and they alighted from the car. She looked up and saw her lights on and she was sure that she switched it off.
“ I think someone is in my house " she said.
“ oh, like a robber?" He asked and she smiled shaking her head negatively.
“ No my family, i just dont know which one exactly." She explained.
“ I dont get " he replied.
“ so my family have keys to my apartment, so they could come whenever they want "
