Stranded in the ocean

Sunni felt herself hit the water as she regained consciousness. She opened up her eyes and saw that she was underwater and she couldn't breathe. A thud made her look down and saw Donkey Kong had been unconscious. Mario started to swim after him. He grabbed his neck tie and pulled him up to the surface. Sunni looked to see a large mouth trying to reach them. It looked like a giant, colossal eel with blue eyes and red scales.

The moment they reached the surface, Donkey Kong regained consciousness and grabbed a piece of wreckage so he could stay afloat.

"Mario," Donkey Kong gasped, panting for air, "you saved my life."

"Well. I won't tell anyone.." Mario promised.

"Please, don't."

"Arh!" Goombella coughed. She struggled to swim as she began to fall into the water. "Help! I can't swim." Mario begins to pull her up and puts her on his head so she can't drown.

Sunni began to climb onto Donkey Kong's back as she shook the water off her hair. "Now what are we gonna do?" she asked them. "We lost the army and "Peach and Toad are gone."

Something began to move in the water and then something growled.

"Did you just feel something?" Mario asked.

Sunni weren't sure what was happening until something massive emerged out of the water. The four survivors started to swim for their lives but the eel was so fast it swallowed them into its mouth, then everything went black.

"...unni!....brea...."

Sunni felt a rush of air enter her lungs and her eyes snapped open. She shot up and started coughing water out of her lungs. Her vision tried to regain focus as she tried to inhale the oxygen in her lungs.

"Sunni! Sunni!" Goombella squeaked. "Are you okay?"

Sunni slowly sat up, moaning and rubbing her head. "What... happened...?"

"You got yourself knocked out while we were swallowed up by that giant eel," Donkey Kong commented.

"But we managed to save your life," Mario replied as he carried her back up to her feet.

Sunni looked around and saw that they were inside the eel. Rainbow debris had filled up the shallow water and some of the glowing tendrils swayed in the muscle.

"What about Peach and Toad?" Sunni asked him. "Are they okay?"

"They got away," Mario said solemnly before he sat on a broken kart. "I hope."

"So, this is the end..." Donkey Kong comments. "Being slowly digested by an eel, next to an idiot in overalls. "

"Well, at least, your brother isn't gonna die because of you," Mario replied, turning to Donkey Kong.

"Least you're not gonna die with your dad thinking you're a joke," Donkey Kong glared.

"Yeah, well, my dad thinks I'm a joke, too," Mario sighed.

"I never had a dad once," Goombella sighed. "I was raised by my own kind until they dumped me for being different."

"Yeah, well..." Donkey Kong sighed before he turned to Mario angrily. "Your dad's right!"

"You know what? I feel bad enough. Just, just, leave me alone," Mario grumbled, waving him off.

"I've never met your dad, but he sounds brilliant!"

"Just go in a corner and smash some stuff, smash monkey," Mario shouted back.

"I am more than a guy, who smashes things!" Donkey Kong snapped and smashing everything around and slamming his fists on the guts before glaring at Mario. The loud groan made everyone blow back by the harsh wind and crash. Finally, it seems someone is all fed up.

"Would you guys just shut up!" Sunni screamed at last. Her shout made Mario and Donkey Kong look at her. "I am so sick of this fighting and now we are stuck in this giant eel!"

"It's called a Maw Ray," Goombella told her.

"Whatever," she shouted. "You're just so pathetic because you all kept fighting!"

The two enemies suddenly realize what they had done and that girl is so angry.

"Sunni..." Mario tried to reach her.

"Well, it doesn't matter!" she shouted back. "You're all just selfish to be trapped here."

She began to leave, walking deeper into the belly of the giant eel. Goombella looked hurt as she stared at Donkey Kong and Mario. They both realized arguing won't solve anything and they had crushed Sunni.

Goombella started to search for Sunni all by herself after the argument. She seemed worried that the ape and man argued and broke Sunni's feelings. She stumbled onto a wreckage of the rainbow bridge and climbed on top of the rainbow bridge piece. She spotted Sunni's motorcycle and one of Donkey Kong's rockets. The female Goomba looked and saw Sunni, sitting in the corner of the Maw Ray's intestines.

"There you are, Sunni," she squeaked. "I've been looking all over for you." She began to walk toward the girl and panting. "We were worried sick. Are you feeling okay?"

Sunni didn't even respond. By the locks of it, Goombella thought she saw tears in her eyes. She rubbed them as she started to think about her dog. "It's my fault," she whimpered. "If I hadn't got into that weird pipe, none of this would have happened."

Goombella hesitated. "But you did. You met me, Peach, Mario, Donkey Kong and you got all this way journeying around the Mushroom world."

The girl turned her head slowly, her brown hair covering her eye. "And besides," Goombella squeaked. "You defeated Donkey Kong and defended Mario. Can you believe it? You always chose the right power up for the job."

The sound of thumps made Sunni turn around and saw Donkey Kong. The giant ape was a little ashamed of himself. "You were right," he said. "I am, however, a little selfish when I hurt you and your friend." He sighed before he looked at her. "And I'm sorry for what I did to Mario. I was just defending my honor."

Sunni began to stand up and wiped her tears away. "Thanks... guys. I guess I needed that."

She began to put on her hand and began to redeem herself. "Now how are we gonna get out of here?" Goombella asked. Her foot touched on a barrel rocket from Donkey Kong's remains of his kart. The rocket is still in good condition and that means, they might be able to use it after all.

They began to climb on top of the barrel and began to activate the rocket. The Maw Ray felt smoke coming out from its nostrils and it began to spit out the small group it had eaten. They are out of the dreaded giant eel now. Goombella cheered as she, Mario, and Sunni held on to Donkey Kong.

"That was amazing!" Mario cheered.

"Now we're even!" Donkey Kong admitted.

"Now let's get that army back from Kong's wrath!" Goombella shouted with joy as the group began to rocket off above the vast ocean and back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
