And then began the trek. Marching forward and onward into what may or may not be almost all of their final week. It became obvious that Azulin was anxious. There was just no getting the blue bear to walk while holding still. He was looking around in every single direction- even before they reached the forest. He had forgotten the fact that before they went into the forest- all of them went into the nearby town so the bears with families nearby could visit them- knowing well that some may never come back.
Azulin stood back as he watched Gordi go and hug one of his friends from the town, peering around as all of the other soldiers went to their respective homes to visit loved ones. Coco stood nearby, talking to his expecting wife before giving her a tight hug and a kiss on the lips. Honestly, it was the happiest the middle-aged bear had looked in a long time. Even from what Azulin could remember.
Padre and Sargento stood off to the side, talking to each other. Despite the gruffness from the Sargent earlier- it seemed that he and the purple bear were having a calm, normal conversation... he never noticed that before.
The Polar bear twins both were talking to their grandparents- it seemed. The older woman-bear handing them both a snack tied in a red polka-dotted hankie. The grandfather let out a hearty laugh, and path them both on the head- proclaiming he was proud of them being so strong.
Achuchones was standing off to another corner- talking to what could be assumed to be his mother. The older bear was very unpleasant to see communicating. She seemed to be impulsive and very free-of-hand. The second Achuchones said something she did not like- the older bear made a threat of hitting him- causing the teal-green bear to flinch despite his firm glare back at the woman.
This caused Azulin to only snort, before walking over. He and Achuchones normally disagreed with each other, even intentionally if they were aware of certain decisions.
This was no time to contemplate that though.
Azulin had no idea if this had actually happened the first time around. He didn't pay much attention to anything else but his father when he had visited and right now- his father was yet to have shown up. With a grunt, Azulin walked over the Achuchones before slinging his arm over the others shoulder as the lady-bear in front was preparing to take another fall swooping swing at the poofy-furred family member.
"Heyy, Achuchones. We are getting ready to go. We should head back, that cool?"
The other bear drew back from the two a sneer plastered on her features.
"Yeah-" Achuchones started to say, looking her in the face before looking back down at the ground. "Let's go."
Both of the bears walked away, Azulin making an excuse to turn around and pull down his bottom eyelid and stick out his tongue in mockery at the woman. This only roused more anger from her- before she went to briskly walk off, far away from the crowd.
Achuchone's favored the right side of his face and after some solid moments of looking- Azulin had confirmed that the culprit had slapped Achuchones across the face.
The other bear offered no words, he just huffed and looked down at the ground with a glare etched into his eyebrows from his frustration. For now, the best thing would to be to leave the other alone for a few minutes. It would give him time to clear his head.
Eventually, Azulin heard his brother speaking a good several yards away. His attention turned to the pink bear- just to spot two rather familiar figures and one stranger. The two familiar figures being his father... and... his mother.
But how could this be...?
Azulin felt sudden panic growing within himself again for the third time . The blue fisher-bear, and the pink mother that Azulin had not seen in ages and ages were both in eye-sight. Only a hop, skip and a jump away. This couldn't really be happening... could it?
Was it possible that in this timeline, some of the mistakes he had made in the past had also been corrected? Somehow granting him the view of something no shorter than a miracle in itself. The implausible and impossible- all standing there in a light floral dress and a comfy straw hat.
Azulin even shook his had to see if he was daydreaming or seeing things. Making little things up in his head out of desperation in and attempt to explain away everything that was happening right now.
"Mother....?"
Th pink bear looked toward Azulin, smiling at him as she clasped her hands together over each other. Something she usually only did whenever she was content. Azulin recognized the third bear too- the one that his mother had dubbed a secret sweetheart... but... why the hell was he here?
Despite the presence of the 'third party' Azulin noted that his father looked rather content. Happy- even. Happier than he had ever seen the olden bear through his own childhood. Something was different. Several things were, but what the craziest thing was- is that Azulin still felt a bit of a burning spite- though it wasn't as pesky as it usually was. It wasn't irking him as much.
He didn't feel whatever violent thoughts he used to get.
It was an odd feeling still, but in the end it relieved him.
"I hear you boys are going to go and find some friends of yours in the forest. I am so proud of both of you." The father of the brothers blue and purple smiled before stepping forward, giving them both a pat on the shoulder. "I will always be the most proud father. You both have done so much already. Visit soon, ok?"
Azulin leans into his fathers comforting gesture, feeling a specific kind of warmth that he hadn't felt in such a long time...
"You boys are the light of our lives. You both have done great things and will continue- I am sure. Until then, I can't wait until you two get home, my sweet and sour little berries." The mother walked over to the boys as well- the step-father like figure staying back as a sign of respect for Azulin- despite giving a small nod of approval.
At first, Azulin rejected his mothers touch- his stubbornness showing through as it always had. But after seeing his moms kind smile, and a look of understanding- he could barely restrain himself. He raised his arm high above his mothers head.

((Get Prank'd))
Azulin brought his arms down around his mother quickly, feeling his eyes getting wet as he wrapped her in a tight hug. He was trembling, refusing to make a sound as he just took in the warmth of the mother figure he had spent so much of his life hating. He didn't deserve to hug her... not after what he had done.
He just couldn't help it.
He missed her, and her kisses on his forehead, or her whispery voice lulling him to sleep at night. He melted into her touch, closing his eyes as she brought a gentle hand up to caress his cheek while providing him the same warm smile.
The best way to describe this moment, to him at least- was just... a feeling of blissful sunshine.
He had to go soon, but he could enjoy the sunshine for just a little longer...
