Yuca Played by a young Ryan Guzman
*Not Edited*
*Warning* This chapter is probably the longest one I have ever written and I'm not sure how I feel about the way it turned out. It has a bit more curse words than I had originally planned, but I had to get a little dark for this chapter. If you're sensitive to curse words, maybe you shouldn't read this chapter even though I feel its very crucial to the story line in order for you to understand what's going on.
Escape
"My hands are starting to swell up!" Vic screamed.
"Screw your hands! My feet are gonna be the size of watermelons tomorrow." Sylvia countered.
"I'd rather it be my feet than my hands." Vic continued to study her hands. "You can hide your feet, but how I am gonna hide my hands!"
"Wear winter gloves?" Carol chimed in.
"Yeah, in the middle of summer? People will think I'm a freak." She said.
"They already do." We all said together.
"Shut up." She glared at us all and we all started laughing.
"Come on, you girls are boxers. You're not suppose to be sitting here complaining. Take it like a man!" Paco yelled, sounding a bit annoyed.
"We are not boxers, thank you very much. We are just taking advantage of a boxing way of working out." I said. For us, a boxer fought other people competitively and professionally. We didn't, therefore, we didn't consider ourselves boxers.
"Exactly. I mean, who wants to make a living by getting your faced rearranged and bashed in for money? Gross." Carol said.
Paco just rolled his eyes and continues looking out at the road. He was driving us all home after training where he trained with us also. Rick would pretty much love to train all the kids in the neighborhood. He said it keeps us out of the streets, out of trouble and also helps us learn how to defend ourselves.
After Yuca and I talked for a bit Rick had kicked Raymond out of the gym because he was distracting Sylvia and they left. We all waited until Paco was finished and we headed out also.
"What are ya'll doing tonight?" I asked Sylvia, who was sitting next to me.
"Nothing and we can't be gone from the house for too long." She shook her head. "Someone from Child Protective Services is supposed to be doing a surprise check up. They should be showing up any day now, we just don't know when."
"Damn, that sucks."
"Tell me about it. It has been driving my mom crazy. Trying to put on the act like we are all normal and fine is getting to her." She forcefully laughed. They were reported to CPS after Sylvia made a confession to one of the school counselors that she had been molested by someone in her family, which lead to a full on investigation. I don't really know the whole story because I never asked. I just told them that I was there for them if they needed anything or wanted to talk. For the most part they kept it to themselves because they had each other. So I didn't pry. They never forced me to tell them anything I didn't want them to know about Renee and I, so I showed them the same respect. I guess that's why we loved each other so much. We all had our secrets and we were all scarred, but we loved each other anyway.
