Yona POV
Now, if I said I wasn't slowly dying within, that would be a lie. There was never any doubt in anyone's mind that my feelings for the boys were those of a real mother, despite the fact that they were both my and not mine.
A sigh of relief escaped me as I watched Ayato, his head bandaged, play cheerfully on the bed. The maids, who were caring for Kanato and Laito, stopped what they were doing and stared at me.
Before I even had a chance to say anything, all of the maids were on their knees, apologising to me, while the one who had done this was standing behind me by the door.
I moved up to the bed and picked up Ayato while giving them the cold shoulder. As I wrapped my arms around Ayato and planted a passionate kiss on his bandaged forehead, he stared at me in bewilderment.
Laito and Kanato noticed Ayato in my arms and tried to crawl towards me at rapid speed. The maids looked over in astonishment as I sat down on the bed.
I was too focused on the two boys who were trying to clamber into my arms to see the sneer that Ayato was giving them.
I turned back to the maids and said, icily,
"Have you guys any idea what you've done?"
"We apologize, Lady Cordelia; we recognise we were wrong."
If you insist on knowing what set me off, let me explain. Because the maids were much busy being scared of me?
No
That the maids can't even care for my infant children?
No
The fact that they were more concerned with pleading with me than caring for Ayato after his fall made me so angry.
The bandage on Ayato's head fell undone as I touched it. The lump on his head was huge and bleeding, and I could see it well.
The brutality Cordelia inflicted on the boys and others might have, made me feel like I might erupt at any moment.
If the mother can treat the kids that way, then anyone may treat them with complete disdain. After being Cordelia's punching bag for so long, they can be used by anybody then.
Now is the time to contact the head maid.
The maids shook at my remarks, but I didn't care. One of the maids got to her feet and left the room.
I comforted Ayato in hushed tones, saying, "Baby, you must have hurt a lot. Ma is sorry".
Ayato puzzledly stroked my face and said, "Ma," before looking at me.
Now I know how crucial it is to never, ever leave my kids alone.
Given that they were vampires from birth, I gave them breast milk exclusively. They've been using other people's blood up until now, but I suppose I should help them out with mine since it's more potent.
I exposed my wrist and said, "Come on boys, come to feed." Laito and Kanato came over.
To avoid the discomfort, I shut my eyes; after a brief lull, I reopened them.
I looked perplexed as I watched the two boys go backwards instead of forward, while Ayato also crawled out of my arms to join his siblings.
Then I realised they were being coy because they didn't intend to harm me. There's made me grin, therefore that's why I smiled.
I embraced all three of them and said, "Oh my boys, how could one not love you, you are all so considerate and kind."
At that moment, the head maid entered, "Did you call Lady Cordelia? I'm aware of the current predicament."
"Yes, I did call you; these maids need to be fired for the terrible crime of abandoning my children while I was out of town."
After the head maid nodded at me, the other maids dragged the three away.
"We didn't do anything, Lady, we did no wrong, please release us."
This causes the whites of my eyes to flash as I say, "You did do wrong, you didn't pay attention to my children and even after that you didn't took care of them, have you seen Ayato's bandage? What a sloppy fit.
I apologise if I am worrying about my newborn too much. He is very fragile right now."
When I said this, I was full of rage. My brows were furrowed when I issued the order, "Head maid."
The maid in charge addressed me politely: "Yes my Lady."
"It would be best if you stopped hiring slob maids like that," I said.
She nodded as the maids were escorted out. They were wailing and yelling as they were forcibly removed.
To protect them from the sounds, I put my hands over the ears of the three boys.
As I motioned for the boys to bite, I pushed up the sleeve of my dress. They appeared uncertain nonetheless. I smiled and told them, "It's okay boys, I won't be hurt, you can drink from me, I am your mother, and you three are my babies."
The boys bit into my hand at that point, and I felt a sharp pain for a split second before I was able to untense. I would give up everything for the sake of the kids.
I laughed as they drank my blood since my sons are nicer and more kind than the original Sakamaki triplets.
Prior to imbibing, they gave consideration to me. They dithered to emphasise the distinction.
They treated Yui differently because they drank from her, but they never exhibited mercy or compassion. I am sure I am on the right path.
I wouldn't let them go astray at all, I would lead them to a better future as Cordelia and Yona. A future where they wouldn't be sad, hurt, damaged or crazy.
They would be my boys!
