'Hey there, April, you needed something?' Y/N typed on her phone before quickly putting it down and taking notes.
She received a message from the reporter a while ago saying,
'Hey, it's April.'
The teen wondered why she had decided to text her again. Could it be that she actually needed her for something?
Whatever it was, Y/N could feel herself growing eager to get a reply from the brunette. This was her one shot at getting to do something new and obviously, cool.
As she kept writing, she felt her phone vibrating. The girl stole a glance at her teacher before pulling out her phone and opening it.
'Yeah, if you're not too busy, could you meet me by the docks in 15 minutes? I found some tapes from when my father worked on project Renaissance but there seems to be some problem.'
The inhumane gasp that left the teen's lips the moment she read that text caused the entire class to direct their attention to her.
"Miss L/N, are you still here?"
The girl snapped her head up to see her teacher glaring at her with her arms crossed.
"Uhh, yes, it's just," she muttered, feeling the eyes on her. "I was just, y'know, like--" her eyes fell on the book before her. "Like, I'm just- glad we're reading the Odyssey! I, like, totally love this book- and, like even the musical based on it! The musical is like, really good too! Y'know, the portrayal of each character was just, super cool! And---" The teen kept blabbering on and on about the book. Her teacher went to stop her when the bell rang causing the entire class to quickly start packing their things.
Y/N didn't hesitate one moment before throwing her stuff inside her backpack and dashing out before everyone. She figured she'd let Ethan and Caroline know of her emergency later as she stopped by her locker and swiftly pulled out things. After doing so, she ran out, bumping into a few people and hurriedly apologizing to them in the process.
The teen didn't stop running until she made it to the docks. Just as she did, she bent down and began gasping for air.
"Oh, hey."
She looked up to see an angel smiling at her, her eyes somewhat filled with worry.
"Are you alright?" She asked as Y/N stood up straight and nodded in response. "Okay..." She trailed off, pulling out the video recorder and a few tapes that were in horrible condition.
"These are the tapes," she showed them to Y/N. "The thing is though, I can't watch them on my video recorder-- I don't even know why."
The frustration was evident in her voice as she spoke.
"All I know is, these tapes are the only proof of any of them but I can't open the---" April goes to say when Y/N interrupts her.
"I have a friend at school who might."
...
The shade of the sky was gradually turning darker by the minute.
"You want me to access these and transfer them to this USB?"
"Yes!" Y/N agreed as she watched her friend through the screen, standing beside April, who eagerly awaited an answer from Y/N's friend, who she said might be able to fix whatever was wrong with those tapes.
Ethan hummed, eyeing the tapes.
"It'll take a few days," he muttered, catching the attention of his friend alone with the woman, who he didn't know was present. "But, it can be done."
