After fulfilling her duty like a responsible soldier, Y/N went home and collapsed on her bed, occasionally sharing a few words with Baby Crush, who gave her small gestures in response.

Exhaustion. That's what she felt. She decided it was about time, she took a break from all this. Sending Donnie a text saying she can't make it today since she's busy, she got comfortable and snuggled up under her blanket to watch all eight seasons of Winx.

...

It was hours after the usual time the turtles would meet up with the teen. They had only gone for patrolling that night, aware of Y/N being busy.

"So, guys, if it wasn't already obvious with
Y/N," Mikey whispered, quietly following behind Raph. "Dibs."

"I wonder what she's up to," Leo muttered, scurrying ahead. They were back in the sewer.

"Boring shool stuff," Mikey answered, chuckling to himself recalling how Y/N keeps saying shool instead of school.

"Oh, well, I don't know," Raph rolled his eyes. "Maybe she's with that friend of hers, or should I say date," he grumbled. He didn't know why he felt so annoyed talking about a guy he doesn't even know but, the thought of Y/N liking that guy seemed to worsen his mood.

"She clearly mentioned that she had homework," Donnie points out.

"..."

"..."

"Oh."

"Guys! Quiet," Leo warned. "If Master Splinter catches us, he'll send us back to Ha'shi."

"I ain't going to back to Ha'shi," the red-masked turtle spat.

"Every time we're in Ha'shi, it's because of you," Leo pointed out.

The two started bickering before Mikey spoke up between them which later ended with the four trying to shush each other.

"He's not going anywhere," the blue-masked turtle tried to get his brothers to keep it down. "We're all gonna stick together."

"Sorry, I spit in your eye, bro," Mikey apologized before getting shushed by his brother.

"Guys? Guys..."

Donnie interrupts the three, gaining their attention.

"We got a bogey."

...

"It could've been worse."

"I just got fired, Vern," April stated, her eyes bloodshot. "How could it be worse."

"Maybe, it's good," he began. "Maybe you should take a little time. Take care of yourself." The man tried to explain.
"Come on. Let me give you a ride," he offered, his tone soft.

"Not unless you're going to Erik Sacks Estate." April shook her head, turning around and walking off while Vernon tried to call her back. "I'm not giving up on this story," she muttered, determination evident in her tone.

"You gotta put that to bed," he warned.

"Would all of those other great reporters that you worked with," she stared up at him. "Would they have 'put it to bed'?"

"No, that's different," the dark-haired man tried to reason but the reporter wasn't convinced. "How is it different?" She asked. "They all started exactly where I am, right?"

That seemed to have done something as Vernon went silent, his eyes showing a different emotion. He took April's things and walked off.

"I'm not driving the Channel 6 news van onto the Sacks Estate," he informed, April following behind him.
