Chapter 4

I woke up to Uzi peacefully sleeping on me, I smiled seeing her at peace for a little while. I laid there thinking about the order I had to do things as I had a bit of work to do today, "I should probably just drop school. I'm basically the cop of this place now questioning and taking people down. I got to pay Lizzy a visit and also N" I thought "I'll go visit N first, I'll swing by the police station and grab anything that might be useful like some handcuffs. I'd rather take people peacefully if I can, then I'll get to Lizzy if the other investigators don't" I say as I felt Uzi shift nuzzling me. My mind drifted back to yesterday and was all over the place "That orb, is it turning me into a machine? Or was it only my brain? And why was Doll killing people? Specifically the prom committee. Which reminds me I'm going to have to pay Kelsey's family a visit to let them know there daughter is dead" I thought, I was appointed to let her family know as part of my training for if murder drones attacked again. I wasn't looking forward to it but it had to be done. I heard Uzi's alarm go off and her groggy groans, I tapped her screen shutting the alarm off for her as she shook her head "Hey! That felt weird!" She says. I squeeze her before letting her up "Well since your up I think I'll let you know I'm basically dropping school. I got so much work now I should focus on that instead of school work that isn't really helpful to me" I say as she got up "No way! You can't just drop out! I'll be alone again" she says "I know but I'm the closest thing to any form of law here with me being the only one who is willing to risk my neck to save a life I don't really got a choice" I say, Uzi looked at me pouting "Don't give me that look!" I say knowing she was trying to make me feel bad and it was working. She sat down in my lap holding the same expression "Uhhh fine, I'll stick in school. But I got work to do and school doesn't start for a few hours so if I'm quick I can get it done before then" I say as she smiled "Good, get going!" She says getting up "I really don't want to, first thing I have to do is let Kelsey's family know she's gone so I get a great start to my day" I say getting dressed in my best professional outfit to break the news "Oh... That's not fun at all" she says "No it's not, but at least her killer is dead so there is at least some closure" I say putting my WDF hat on along with my jacket. "Still that's going to be tough" she says putting her hat on. "Well might as well get it over with" I say "See you before class?" She asked "We'll see depends on how much trouble Lizzy's dad gives me" I say leaving.

I made my way to Kelsey's home as I had been given there address already, I knocked on the door taking a deep breath. It opened and her mother was standing there once she saw the WDF patch she got hope that I was bringing her daughter home "Mrs Day, may I speak with you and your husband for a moment?" I ask "Yes of course come in" she says letting me inside. Her husband was making something and upon noticing me stopped "You both may want to sit down, this is about your daughter" I say removing my hat "She's coming home safe right?" Mrs Day asked "It's with a heavy heart that I have to inform your daughter is dead, we found her body at Dolls place last night. I'm truly sorry" I say as her mother broke down entirely yelling, her husband put his arm around her to try and comfort her. "Thank you for telling us, but please let us grieve in peace" he says. I nod leaving there place I get out in the hall and put my cap back on, I let out a deep breath before making my way to the main doors. I arrived at them opening them "Morning Y/n!" I hear Ron say "Yeah morning Ron" I say opening the door "Where are you off to?" He asked "Got to ask the murder drone a few questions, then I'm swinging by the police station to look for anything of use" I say "Oh? Trying to be a cop?" He asked "Aren't I already? I just put an end to our resident murderer" I say "Guess you got a point, hope it goes well" he says as I leave.

I made my way to the pod climbing in, "Hey N..." I say seeing him sitting on the floor "Oh hey Y/n" he says glancing at me before back at the floor. "What's wrong bud?" I ask sitting down next to him "Uzi hates me" he says "No she doesn't" I say as I put an arm around him "How do you know?" He asked pushing my arm off of him "Because she still has that picture you drew for her, its hanging on her bedroom ceiling. If she hated you she would have thrown it out already, but she hasn't" I say as he perked up a little "Really she kept it?" He asked "Yeah she still has it, she even still looks at it every so often, she misses you N she's just trying to figure everything out. Whatever scared her that night she connected to it through the solver and it's scary for her. She just won't accept it and was looking for something to blame. You just happened to be the only one she could" I say "Oh so she doesn't actually hate me?" He asked "Nah N who could ever hate you? Your too lovable to" I say as he smiled "Now for the part your not going to like, do you know anything about this Absolute solver?" I ask he smile faded "No I don't, frankly I'm afraid of it. I don't want to end up a monster like that thing was...." He says "You'll never be a monster N, we've see you the real you. Your kind and caring. And if that ever changed suddenly we know it wouldn't be you in control" I say as his smile returned. "Thanks Y/n, I needed to hear that" he says getting up, I stood up with him "Look I'll talk to Uzi and see if she'll come out and talk to you" I say patting him on the back "Thanks I miss talking with her" he says "Don't worry bud, it'll be back to normal soon" I say before climbing out of the pod, "Now off to the police station" I checked my watch and saw school didn't start for another two hours "Perfect I got time" I say leaving for the station.
