Chapter 14

I woke up with Uzi still curled up to me "I missed this" I thought as I stirred her a little she groaned a little and I shook her a little more "No.... I wanna stay in bed" she mumbles. I smiled at her before getting up and picking her up with me. I carried her out into the kitchen and set her down in a chair. She rested her head on her arms while I went through there food to see what I could make for breakfast. I eventually found something and began cooking for her, as I cooked the door to the apartment opened and Nori walked in holding my gear "Here's your stuff, I'll be expecting you at the doors this morning" she says "Nope, I'm taking Uzi out of class today" I say "Excuse me?" She says "Yeah, I'm going to teach her how to fly with her wings" I say as I flipped the food. "And what makes you think you can just pull her out of class?" She asked crossing her arms "Do you want me to come back to work?" I asked "You already said you would" she says "No I said I might or I'd return to school. I haven't decided which yet. If I'm coming back to work then I'm pulling her out of class for some lessons that are a bit more important than figuring out the price of something, especially where we don't use money or any form of payment here" I say. Nori was about to speak up before she thought about it "I suppose you do have a point learning how to fly would be better for her, but if your teaching her then I want N to be there as well" she says "That's fine, and I'm sorry about last night. I should have been calmer about that and not threatened you" I say apologizing "Apology accepted, don't do it again" she says "Then work on the attitude, I don't take attitude from anyone. If you give it to me I'll be hostile back" I say as glared at me "I'm serious Nori, you've bitten more then a few heads off since you were brought back to life. Going gun-ho into every situation is a good way to start a fight and unlike me you only get one life, I can repair myself indefinitely you can't" I say "But you can just rebuild me again" she says sitting down "Only if the parts and oil are available, and I'd rather not have Uzi see her mother die time and time again" I say as I made her some toast to eat, "I see, well then maybe we could work on these things together, you with your uptight and strict work ethic, and me with my attitude" she says "I'll probably be fine with work now that I'm not in charge, I'm the new demolition guy, getting new tools and everything" I say "Demolition? Why do we need that?" She asked "No idea, but I'll definitely be changing uniforms as I'll need something more fitting" I say. I grabbed a plate and filled it with food, I set it in front of Uzi and shook her gently "Wake up sleepy head, foods ready" I say as she groaned again. "Uzi he's looking down you shirt" Nori says, "he's seen it before" she says picking her head up "What have you two done!?" Nori says "Back at camp, when her and I wondered off on a walk, we went skinny dipping in some hot springs" I say as Uzi got embarrassed "Did you really have to tell her?" She says grabbing a fork "Yeah! And why didn't you invite me!" Nori says "Mom!" Uzi shouts "What I'm up for a little adventure!" She says "Oh dear lord, your back to normal" I say smiling grabbing some food for myself sitting down next to Uzi. Before I ate any of mine I grabbed a bite off of hers "Hey! That's mine!" She says. I let the end of it hang out of my mouth "Take it back then" I say, she got the hint as to what I was after and leaned forwards grabbing her food and kissing me. We went back to eating while Nori ate her toast "So your teaching me to fly today?" Uzi asked "Yep, it's easy enough" I say "Again you have air brakes for wings you can stop in the blink of an eye, my wings are small" she says "Just like you" Nori says taking a bite "Not you as well" Uzi says groaning "Might as well accept it Uzi, your smol" I say putting an arm around her. She sighs before going back to eating and I noticed her get rather quiet as we ate. Nori and I continued to make small talk and once she was done and left I set my food down and turned to Uzi "You okay? Your awfully quiet" I asked "Yeah... I'm fine..." she says but I knew better than that, I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into a hug "There's nothing wrong with being short Uzi, it just makes you more cute" I say hoping to cheer her up "I'm just tired of people mentioning it, it seems like it's the only thing anyone notices about me" she says. "You have a wonderful smile, you look great in a dress, and your a wonderful cuddle bug!" I say giving her a little squeeze, she let out a little sigh "Thanks Y/n, even if I hate compliments" she says smiling up at me. I kissed her forehead and let her go "Now let's finish up eating then we can get to flying lessons" I say as we returned to our breakfast.
