"Did they suspect?" Constatine's hooded figure clouded Carter's room.
"No. They didn't." Carter relied. "Although they did not give me their full trust yet, it will only be a matter of time"
"Good" the demon gloated.
"What will you do?" the blond guy asked.
"I'll release her at the right time" Constatine gloated. "Then my son will be able to come back to the underworld. Where he belongs, and he'll forget that wretched Virtue"
"I think I have an idea" Carter said. "There's an event in the mortal school coming up. It should be perfect."
Constatine gave a gruesome smile.
"I will count on you to make the arrangements" he said. "Carter"
"Do not fail me. Or you know what will happen"
"Isn't it too cliche for you to threaten me like that?" Carter smiled darkly. "I already know my position, Constantine"
"You better" then Constatine vanished into the darkness, leaving only a small essence of malice.

"Okay, class, today, I have a very important announcement for all of you" our homeroom teacher announced rather loudly, since the mortals were busy chatting with each other.
The noise immediately died down, and everyone became attentive.
"As you know, the end of the term is coming to a close" our teacher continued, but the students began their chatter again, filled with excitement for the upcoming holidays.
"QUIET!!!" Mr. Brunns yelled, and the room became quieter that the library. Then he cleared his throeat and continued talking.
"Our school, has greatly come up with a program that all of you students would like" Mr. Brunns said sternly, as if warning everyone that they should not talk at all.
"Ms. Lou, please take the spotlight" he said, and my blonde friend stood up and strutted to the podium. Then, she produced a small metal stick from her pocket, and it expanded into a long instrument that teachers usually use.
"This year, our principal, Mr. Doyle, has organized a program called L'Ultimo Ballo" she said excitedly, then flipping the board, showing graphics that I could not understand.
Caleb must have seen the look on my face, and said,
"The Last Dance" he said to my ear. "It's a ball here in the mortal world. There's dancing before the holiday starts."
"Oh" I turned my head back to Lou.
"You will get all your tickets from Cheska here, who is the auditor of the school council." Lou babbled on. "You are allowed to have dates for the school dance" she eyed Carter " The additional info will be posted in the school bulletin. Thanks!"
She stepped down at the podium, and all the guys groaned, while the girls quickly chatted about the announcement. Something tells me the boys aren't too good in asking someone out. Mortals.
"Thank you, Ms. Lou, for keeping that short" Mr. Brunns stepped back to the podium, and eyed everyone carefully. "Now, we shall continue to discuss about....."
------------------------------
By lunch, Lou was already frantic about who would ask her to the dance.
"I mean, I would really like Albert, the football captain to ask me out, but Carter is hot too, you know" she said to me, as we ate our meatball surprise. I didn't know mortal food in school was this horrible. No offense. I still haven't got used to it.
"Either is fine" I shrugged. But really, I wouldn't like my friend hanging out with some fallen, whose intentions aren't THAT clear.
"How about you?" Lou asked. "You have been so busy. I always see you and Caleb together. Are you two going out?"
"No way" I said. "We dont have any relationship!"
Or at least that's what I think.
"Then, what is it?" Lou persisted. "You've been hanging out with the most scary guy in school. I'm worried."
"It's just that, he's... not such a bad person after all" I lied. Although a part of it was true. "You should try and meet him" I added rather hastily.
Mistake.
I tried to hide my grimace as I took a huge bite out of my meatloaf, and gagged instead.
"Careful!" Lou patted my back gently. When I recovered, Lou did not discuss about Caleb anymore, and instead, she continued to eat what was left of her meal.
-------------------------------------------
"Are you attending the school dance?" I asked Caleb when we were alone in the greenhouse. He remained quiet for quite some time, and I waited patienly for his reply, though my heart was hammering in my chest like crazy.
Why was I so concerned about what he does with his life anyway?
"I don't know, actually" he shrugged, and gave ma sideways glance, like he was saying, 'What about you?'
"I think I'll go" I said finally afetr a few moments of silence. "It would be a good experience. besides, maybe a few demons would show up. They would not miss such a big oppotunity to slay some of the mortals. I will protect them. Even if it means wearing some ridiculous dress"
"Then I'm coming with you" said another voice. We were both startled to see Caleb standing near the entrance of the greenhouse, his hands inside his pockets.
"No. No you don't" Caleb glared at him.
"I think it's fine, Caleb" I said. "I'll keep an eye at him. Besides, he can't possibly run away from a Virtue"
"No you don't" Caleb said with a tone of finalty.
"What's wrong?" Carter smirked. "Afraid that I steal your girlfriend away from you?"
"Girlfriend or not, I still don't trust you" Caleb said, throwing a murderous look at Carter, like he wanted to make him vaish to hell.
"Caleb, calm down, will you?" I scolded. "And Carter! Will you please shut your trap? How are we supposed to get along if you keep on fighting?"
My anger was enough to make the temperature lower down a few degrees, making the air go unusually cold, and the sky turn gray. Both of them dropped it, and Carter shrugged.
"I'm going to agree with Carter. Caleb--" I warned, after he looked like protesting. "I agree with him, because he knows what Constatine is doing, and he can help in predicting what he might do. I don't mind risking my mortal body in order to finish our contract, and focus on what my duty really is"
Okay, I knew that was harsh, but I really want to get this over with, so I can forget about him, and my feelings, and all the stuff that I want to get eradicated.
Loving a demon means trouble. Big trouble. And I don't want that kind of trouble AT ALL. Well, if I really DID love him. But I don't.
I don't love him..... but do I?
