Sushie's Monologue: I was roughly thirteen years old when I first dreamed of sailing the open waters as a pirate. My folks told me many a story of the great pirates that roamed the Mushroom Kingdom seas and the battles they fought. They be some of my finest memories with them as we would pretend to fight one another with swords for fun. However, a devasting plague engulfed our little island, and me parents sadly passed away from the disease. It saddened me to no end, but I knew I had to continue to live on in their honor. So I used my cunning ways to get what I needed to survive. Bribery, stealing, making friends and enemies when necessary. All at the age of thirteen as well. There were days rougher than others, but on those days, I would look up to the great pirates of before and now. Especially to the newest face on the sea, Long Fin Silver, who had been sailing the open seas for almost seven years at that point since beginning his journey at twelve. He was the one I looked up to the most, and helped me get through those rough days all the time. After much time though, I knew that staying on this island could only get me so far. I needed to get out and see the wonders of the open sea for me-self. Unfortunately, I had not a crew or a vessel to my name. But thankfully on one fateful night at the tavern, me journey would finally set sail...
Talkatoo Tavern
Talkatoo: Braa! What will it be?
Sushie: Cider. Nothing strong though.
Talkatoo: Braa! Coming right up. turns to fix up the drink
Sushie: sighs, overhears some talking behind her
Captain Whiskers: I'm tellin ya. You all should'a been there when me crew leveled that village. The amount of gold we stole would be enough to pay for everyone's drinks here tenfold.
Johnny Lightfoot: You can say that again captain. Those poor saps didn't know what hit'em.
Whiskers Crewmate: Say, Captain? You sure it's a good idea to be braggin about this wealth we've gotten?
Whiskers: Of course it's fine! We've been pillaging the seas for years now and no one's ever tried to stop us. And besides, once we sell off this gold at the port, we'll all be rich I tell ye.
Johnny: Cheers to that captain!
Sushie: Hmm?
Talkatoo: Braa! Here's your drink. Braa!
Sushie: Thanks. drops a coin for him I'll take it to go. walks over to the table
Whiskers: laughing
Sushie: sets her drink on the table What's got you in such a fine mood?
Whiskers: Can it lady! I ain't gotta tell ye nothin.
Sushie: It's just that I've overheard you and your crew have acquired a large sum of gold recently. Is that right?
Johnny: And what's it to ya, missy?
Sushie: You folks wouldn't happen to be in the market for some extra hands would'cha? I may not look it, but I'm a real artist when it comes to swordplay.
Whiskers: You? Ha! Don't make me laugh. A woman like you is no where fit to sail with pirates, let alone with me and me crew.
Sushie: You trying to say something here?
Johnny: Listen sister, our captain be taking us to Rouge Port, the most roughest, toughest, and cutthroat port this side of the Mushroom Kingdom. A woman like you wouldn't last a day over there. If ya lucky, they'll kill you quickly. If not, let's just say these pirates take great 'pleasure' in getting what they want from women and leaving'em to rot on a deserted island. So how's about you make like a tree and get outta here.
Sushie: ... takes her drink back Your loss boys. goes back to her seat
Whiskers: That's enough talk. Let's get out of here before more trouble arises.
Sushie's Monologue: They were right about trouble arisen' just not when they might have expected it. I paid close attention to them as they loaded up there ship to set sail. I noticed a crate that the crew were sayin had to be delivered to the Captain's Quarters, and that when the opportunity struck. With a little distracting and clever movement, I got myself into the crate without anyone bein' the wiser, and was carried off to the Captain's Quarters. Once I had heard and felt the ship setting sail, I knew I was in the clear. I hopped out of the crate, and got me-self acquainted with the Captain's weaponry case he wanted to visit. I'd heard me fair share of stories of Rouge Port, and while it's calmed down to an extent since then, Rouge Port back then was the breeding ground for pirates it was. And that, that was where I would truly begin my venture into the open seas, and for the ocean to remember the name; Captain Sushie.
