After the dance between you and Sigma ended, he left to get you both drinks. Which meant that you were standing alone at the back of the room, your arms crossed anxiously over your chest as you waited for him to return. A few people approached you, asking you simple questions. Two girls even approached you asking what your relationship with Sigma was. To be honest, you weren't completely sure what he was to you or what you were to him. They soon left after you had answered with an "I dunno" you weren't sure what they were expecting. After a while, Sigma finally returned with two drinks in hand. You smiled as he handed you yours. As you glanced up at him, you realized that his expression had changed. His lavender eyes were narrowed, and his eyebrows were furrowed. He seemed to be in a conflict. Just as you were about to ask him what was wrong, someone interrupted.
"Sir? You're needed for a minute" Sigma glanced over at you with an apologetic look on his features. Now you realized what he seemed to be feeling. He probably felt overwhelmed and was finally losing ways of trying to hide it. You watched as he followed the guard through the crowd and out into the hallway. Your heart sunk. A lump grew in your throat as you watched the door, waiting for Sigma to return. It seemed to be a long time before the doors finally opened, revealing the manager once more. He quickly made his way over to you. You smiled anxiously up at him. He returned it with a tired smile that mostly seemed forced. You reached out, gently grabbing his arm.
"Are you okay?" You asked, peering up at him with a sympathetic expression. Sigma sighed, averting his gaze away from yours. Your heart fell into your pit, the butterflies returning as you glanced around the room. Your eyes widened as you spotted another guard headed toward the both of you. Sigma also seemed to notice because his eyebrows furrowed tiredly. You turned away, spotting another door behind the bar. Quickly, you slid your hand into Sigma's, pulling him along with you as you rushed through the crowd. Sigma glanced down at you with surprise. He peered over his shoulder and toward the guard, who called after you. However, you didn't stop until you reached the door behind the bar.
"Y/N?! What are you doing?" Sigma asked, confusion in his voice. You tugged him into the now open room, hastily shutting the door behind the both of you. Sigma turned to you almost immediately, his eyebrows furrowed with slight irritation.
"Y/N? What are you-" You cut him off. Pointing a finger into his face, he stepped back.
"I'm saving your ass! You're tired and need to rest, and those guards aren't helping, so I took you back here, " you explained, watching as Sigma's expression softened.
"Y/N, you can't steal me from my work. It's a duty I must complete. I must go back out there" he turned back toward the door. However, you stopped him. You leaped in front of the door, blocking the handle with your body.
"Nope, you're not going anywhere. You need to rest. Besides, if I tried bringing you back to your room, we'd be chased by guards everywhere we went the whole night. Which leads me to this question. Do you even sleep at all?" Sigma seemed taken aback by your answer. He sighed, stepping back and lowering his head.
"I guess you're right. And to answer your question.. not really." He yawned, running his fingers through his hair. Your cheeks flushed pink as you tried to avoid his sleepy gaze.
"Even you need sleep," You mumbled loud enough for Sigma to hear. He chuckled, walking over to the wall and slowly sliding down the smooth surface until he was sitting on the ground.
"I've never seen this side of you" Sigma said suddenly, breaking the silence. You shrugged, taking a seat beside him. He turned toward you, his face only a few inches away from yours.
"It's kinda cute," your cheeks exploded into a deep red color. Sigma smiled softly. His lavender eyes following yours as your gaze dropped down to your hand, which you placed beside you as support. Sigma moved his opposite hand, sliding it over yours.
"Y"know, I've never felt this way about anyone else before" He explained, his gaze lingering on your entertwined fingers. You raised your gaze, examining his expression as your heart skipped a beat.
"Ever since I met you, you just seemed different. You stood out to me more than anyone. I liked that about you" he explained, his cheeks flushing a light pink.
"Y'know, everyone says that I'm amazing and that I'm the perfect person to run a casino, but.. their wrong" You glanced at him with surprise. Unsure how to respond, you stayed silent, waiting for him to continue.
"I'm not the best choice. I'm not actually confident, and I have to focus extra hard just to remember my clients' names. I feel terrible just thinking about it" You felt your heart sink into your pit once more. A feeling of sympathy and sadness flooding your body.
"Not only that- but I find it hard to trust people after what I've been through. You see, a lot of people used me in my past for my ability.." Sigma explained, leaning his head back against the wall with a deep sigh. You gazed at him with surprise.
"You're an ability user?" You asked, earning a nod from Sigma. A small smile returned to your lips.
"So am I. And I understand how you feel. I was used a lot when I was younger. I was raised in a lab, which meant I was being tested by scientists daily. I advetually managed to escape but It took me a long time to recover from that. Heck, I'm still recovering from it now." Silence filled the room as both you and Sigma stared off into the more room in front of you. Sigma chuckled horsely.
"When I was born. I didn't wake up to seeing my parents like anyone else. I woke up in the middle of the desert, a train ticket to nowhere in my hand. I was captured and used by so many people before I escaped. But now. I'm a free man.. even though I sometimes feel like an outcast" His tone slightly faltered as he paused. Almost like he wasn't sure if he was a free man or not. You smiled softly, laying your head against his shoulder with a yawn.
"We can both be outcasts together than" You explained, causing Sigma's cheeks to flush pink. He nodded, laying his head down on yours tiredly.
"I'm glad I met you, Y/N" He mumbled.
"I'm glad I met you too, Sigma" Silsnce followed as you both slowly drifted off to sleep.
