it was different for Aurelia, she couldn't go along with her senior year pretending nothing happened when it was her fault Wes was dead. that someone else had taken over his locker, that someone else sat next to her in every single class, that no one else will ever get to meet the ray of sunshine that was Wes Hicks.
every time she would walk the halls of Woodsburo High all the memories of her and Wes would run through her mind. Every time she walked past their neighbourhood she was hit with immediate guilt because it was her fault Judy had died that day, it was her fault Wes had died, it was her fault James had died and it was her fault Matt had died. Everyone who ever cared for her was dead. Every spot in the school, in Woodsburo had a memory linked to at least one of them and it pained her to continue living in Woodsburo, so she stopped living in Woodsburo and began simply just existing
on top of that her life at home became worse. she hated coming back home knowing her father wouldn't be waiting for her, she hated that his car wasn't ever going to be in the garage again, she hated that she had to go home to what felt like an empty house. her mother wasn't easy on her either, she blamed Matts death on Aurelia claiming she "took away the man she loved" but Aurelia knew that was bullshit, she knew it was just another excuse for her mom to hate her
so she locked herself away, barely conversing with her friends whether that be in person or online. never answering Sidney's phone calls. ignoring the countless texts from Chad, Tara, Mindy and even Sam. she thought being alone would make everything better. it didn't.
after a few months she decided she needed to be around her friends or she would end up completely losing herself. so she hung out with them after school again, she let Mindy help her through moving on from Wes' death and at nights where she couldn't bare the feeling of going home she had a spare room set up just for her at the Meeks-Martin residence.
needless to say when the idea of moving to the east coast came up Aurelia was the first to agree. living in Woodsburo would end up killing her. she didn't think she would find a new boy for her in New York, but the big apple is full of surprises
