The past returns
IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL AND LUCE was not prepared for it. The first thing she seen upon arriving was a memorial for John B so, the girl stood in front of it and stared. Maybe whatever drug she was on made her hyper focus on this stupid rock with his name on it, or maybe it was guilt that made her stay so long.
Either way, she couldn't bring herself to move.
John B Routledge was Luce's first ever friend. Young John B was at the beach, running around, trying to find what he said was buried treasure. Young Luce was suspicious of it but, decided to help him in his search of whatever it was.
Turns out, Big John had hidden some chocolate coins for his son but, by the time the small duo found it, they were all pretty melted.
"Well, at least we had fun looking." Little John spoke with a goofy smile. "Wanna be friends?"
Luce agreed, and from then on, he was her best friend.
A year later, they met JJ and they all became extremely close. Pope came after, and from middle school to the beginning of Sophomore year, Luce and JJ dated. A few months after they broke up, Kiara joined the group, and that's how the Pogues came to be.
Well, that's how things were when they were good.
After high school started, Luce's parents decided she was old enough to start fending for herself. They started leaving the house for long periods of time, not buying groceries for the house, or paying the bills, nothing. If it weren't for Crystal, her landlord, she'd be homeless. It became a weight on the Ali girls shoulders, and eventually she turned to drugs.
Which is when she turned away from the Pogues all together.
"So, you do care." JJ spoke behind the girl, snapping her out of memory lane.
She turned to see him, Pope, and Kiara, all standing side by side as the rest of the school stared at them and whispered.
"Never said I didn't." Luce sighed, not knowing what else to say.
"We miss you, Lu." Kiara spoke pleadingly, looking into the girls eyes.
"She's right." Pope confirmed, all of them needing her after the loss of her friends.
Luce just couldn't bare the weight of their happiness on her shoulders.
"I'm sorry all of this happened." The Ali girl felt tears rushing down her face, or maybe it was sweat, or a mix of both, she couldn't tell.
With that, she turned on her heel and walked away, leaving her friends in despair.
ONCE UPON A TIME COOP LOVED CHANEL, like really, truly loved her more than he ever could have imagined loving someone. She however, didn't reciprocate for reasons he couldn't comprehend. They were best friends, did everything together, they could've been absolutely perfect as a couple.
