Meetings

LUCE WAS DREADING THIS BUT SHE AGREED TO meet up with Cooper to get him off her back. She didn't want him to text Crystal again and make her angry, and she wasn't quite sure what he wanted in the first place. They decided to meet up at Heywards, agreeing it was a good and safe common area.

"What do you want?" She quickly asked, stuffing her hands in her pockets.

"You had to show up high to meet with me?" Cooper scoffed before letting out a slightly annoyed laugh. "I didn't think I was that bad."

Luce stiffened slightly, knowing that nobody had ever called her out for being high around them but, he knew, how did he know?

"I don't think that has anything to do with why you want to talk so..." the girl avoided eye contact as she used her feet to shuffle around loose sand on the ground. "So, why were you texting my land lord?"

"One, I didn't know she was your landlord, I thought it was you and, two, I wanted to ask you to hang out." Coop spoke confidently to the girl, leaning against his expensive car. "Just us."

"I haven't talked to my friends in months, why would I even want to look at you?" Luce scoffed, and shook her head. She couldn't understand why he would want to slum it with her in the first place, she most certainly didn't want to be around some Kook longer than she had to.

"Maybe i'm wrong but, I kinda think we have this thing going on.." the Ryan boy shrugged his shoulders. "I think you're cool."

"Us having the same dealer doesn't mean we have a thing. We just both like to dabble in drugs. I'm a Pogue, you're a Kook, why don't we just keep it that way?" Luce had admitted to herself during the course of this conversation that she was indeed intrigued by Cooper but, she would never, ever give him the satisfaction of admitting that.

"Maybe because I think the Kook and Pogue thing is stupid. Nobody else, in any other town, or state, or country gives a shit about it, why should we?" Coop shrugged his shoulders slightly. "We breathe the same air, surf the same waves, shop at the same stores."

He pointed to Heywards with a grin, before shrugging his shoulders.

"Give me a chance?" He finished with a brow raised.

Luce bit her lip in thought before letting out a sigh, and nodding. She didn't know why she felt lured to Cooper, or why she was even entertaining the idea of boys at all but, she was. He smiled before she said a word, feeling a wave of excitement.

"I'll go but, it is not a date, we're just hanging." She spoke, the boy letting out a chuckle before he laughed himself.

"Deal." Coop wanted to reach for the girl, hug her, but, he stayed away, giving the space he knew she needed as he pushed himself off the car. "I'll catch you later, text me when you want to hang out, okay?"
